On this day in 1953 a little fancied Celtic team beat Arsenal 1-0, with a goal from Bobby Collins, in the first round of the Coronation Cup.

12th May 1971 sees Celtic lift the Scottish Cup for the 21st time in front of a Hampden crowd of 103,332 with a 2-1 scoreline. Lou Macari scores first and Harry Hood doubles the total.

On 13th May 1916 Celtic picked up the Glasgow Charity Cup after defeating Partick Thistle 2-0 at Hampden, goals from Patsy Gallacher and Sunny Jim Young. This victory means Celtic win a clean sweep of honours having already collected the Glasgow Cup and Scottish League championship

Mate the biggest mistake we made was to outplay the best team in the world
In the semi-finals . Leeds United ,( if you believe the English media ). We didn't just outplay them once , but twice . I was at both .
We thought it was a foregone conclusion that we would win the big cup again . But big jock fell out with George Connelly and never played him , and that's what lost us the cup . George was a sublime player . Probably the most naturally gifted player I h ave ever seen

My earliest memory of Celtic. 5 years old and I was in and out of the house as I didn't have the patience to sit and watch the whole game. Can't remember if I saw the goals or not.

Just seen a pic of Macca's winner. We only had 4 players in the box for the corner :56: imagine these days it would be packed and the keeper probably up too

I was 14, there really was magic in the air in that season. The Centenary Season is up there with my favourite seasons. Remember Anton bombing up the wing constantly in the 2nd half and Macca celebrating the winner right in front of where me and my Dad and Uncles were standing. Singing Happy Birthday Celtic constantly all the way out of the ground.. Happy Days :shamrock:

That game against Dundee irks me to this day. It was the week before Seville, buzzing. 6-1 up and in the 90th minute we concede a goal, Lee Mair it was. I remember being absolutely raging. The league was so close at the time and I felt that would cost us. Think the game was on council telly as I remember watching it in the games room at uni flats. We had skelped a team 6-2 and I was fuming at the end.

When we ended up losing the league by ONE goal I immediately thought of this game :54: (and Thommo's penalty, and a late Hearts winner in April, and Rab in the 3-3 game, and Dunfermline at the shitpit.... Etc etc)

On this day in 1960 Celtic wore numbers on their shorts for the first time when they beat Sparta Rotterdam 5-1 during Glasgow's "Dutch Week."

One of my favourite pictures of any cup final this. For me, this is what I think of when I think of cup final day. The old Hampden, packed terraces, the dust flying at a goal, the sun beating down not a cloud in the sky, the pipe band on the pitch before the game. Simple strips and black boots on all the players.

Although I was too young to really remember it all like this. Its the old romantic in me. Give me this over the pyrotechnics and fannying about that goes on nowadays. * me lockdown is getting to me :56:
