Oh Hyeon-gyu

So frustrating, it’s like he gets in good positions but lacks any technical ability. Should’ve scored yday and when the ball lands to him at times in good positions he miss kicks the ball or takes a horrible touch. We need better in as 2nd choice I think.

 

Thought he made a good impact again.

 

Thought he was outstanding when he came on.

Big man made a difference. Had a real presence up front and some lovely wee lay offs, back heels..

 

Roughs up defences that are normally having an easy time against us, runs channels and puts himself about which then creates space for others.

This withdrawn forward idea of Rodgers is bad with only 1 up top. With 2, it has to be Oh doing that, because only he can do hold-up.

 

I like him. He can sometimes * at chances but he is effective when needed

 

He was excellent, would love to see him and Kyogo start up top.

 

He's still raw at times but at the moment he's best option for striker role in Rodgers system.

Plenty of comments about system not suiting Kyogo and being isolated due to style of play but I'd be willing to bet that Oh had more touches in his 37mins on the pitch than Kyogo did in the first 58.

Rodgers has to find a different role for kyogo that gets him more involved in games, whether that's as a winger or as a 10 is for him to figure out but he's not a striker in this system.

 

Him and Kyogo need to feature together more.

Kyogo will get more space with him knocking defenders around.

 

Feel like Rodgers needs to decide what he wants. In a sole striker system - does he want a target man that can hold the ball up and link play? or does he want quick movement in behind?

If the latter then he needs to adjust his system slightly to accommodate that. If former then it might be worth persevering with Oh.

I said it in pre-season when we were experimenting a bit with the attacking linueup because Kyogo was injured, although Kyogo is the better player, Oh might have the basic raw attributes to make him a more effective player in a Rodgers team.

 

Easy to forget he's not even with us a year. He will come good

Have kyogo drift wide/deep, fu back pushing up and Oh knocking down balls/holding up play
Just works in difficult games

 

Really like the big guy, deserves a start the now while the wee man is struggling. Hopefully gets the nod on Wednesday.
