Stokes' is really good when you consider how much he was played out wide etc. His G+A together must be right up there.

    That's not good..

Although Maeda can play through the middle, we don't have a LW.. we need ST cover and LW starter.. pronto.

CeltsAreHere attended Brendan Rodgers pre-match press conference ahead of the Aberdeen game on Sunday and the manager confirmed to us that Oh had picked up a calf injury and will now undergo treatment for it over the next month.

It leaves Celtic short upfront with Kyogo our only recognised striker. The good thing is Maeda can also play as a forward if need be. Rodgers used Daizen in that position during pre-season and he managed a hat-trick against Yokohama.

The injury to Oh highlights the fragility of the squad up front. If Kyogo was now to sustain an injury it would be very problematic. Not having Oh as an option going into the Champions League campaign and over-exposing Kyogo could also be an issue.

Seen his name mentioned a few times now, I wonder if the ovation he received after the West Ham friendly has left a lasting impression?

Ironically what this does is make signing a left winger as opposed to a striker absolutely crucial.

Kyogo and Maeda are your main striker options. Which leaves us light on the left hand side.

I agree, need to sign another first choice left winger. Mainly as Maeda might not be as good under Rodgers, Ange style football was good at feeding Maeda to run onto and cut the ball in the box and to use him for pressing.

Rodgers probably won't play the same way, meaning Maeda might end up more of a back-up striker and winger.

Ffs really thought he would kick on from where he left off too. Was quality at the friendly the other night. Anything happens to Kyogo then Offt…

The 22-year-old South Korea international originally picked up the injury in James Forrest’s testimonial match against Athletic Bilbao but did not declare it before taking his place on the bench for the cinch Premiership opener against Ross County at Parkhead on Saturday.

“Oh will probably be out for a few weeks,” said Hoops boss Rodgers

“He hurt his calf against Athletic Bilbao but no one knew and he trained on. He was involved in the game at the weekend and then he trained on the Sunday and afterwards he spoke to the medical team to say he felt his calf and it has ended up that he has a calf problem which might put him out for four to six weeks. So that’s where he is at.
