1. Benfica are a lot better than they looked at Celtic Park. They are a lot better than anything we ever have to face in SPL.
2. At Celtic Park every single player was on the very top of their game for the first time this season, in Lisbon almost everyone was below par.
3. Would have had McGeady on instead of Pearson.
4. Pearson is not good enough. He did not even look good against Kilmarnock. He was way our of his depth tonight, a headless chicken.
5. Caldwell had a bad one but IMO he has not suddenly become a bad player.
6. Crucially, we did not have the option of putting on other defensive midfielders-we do not have any other fit experienced ones at present.
7. Thought Naylor and Sno were only players who showed good form tonight although Aidan looked good when he came on.
8. Think it was just one of thse nights-nearly whole team had an off day while Benfica hit top form.
9. Not sure WGS tactical skills was the major problem-MON had same problem away. Our squad was stretched and bringing in McGeady or Magic are the only changes he could have made without badly weakening the team.

Only positive is that that was the 1st away champions league game for the whole team except Lenny and maybe Maloney so we are still learning.

 

how can anybody even contemplate us winning in denmark?. We just go to pieces on the road

 

put it this way. if we dont we will be saying good bye to the champs league for another year. if this young team has the bottle we should go through fingers crossed

Man Utd named out a 2nd string team like idiots. It wont be easy but I expect a win

 

Imo Benfica didn't even play well. They were gifted two goals and after that you knew Celtic wouldn't have it to win. Overall Celtic in both legs were the better team in the first game they dominated Benfica and played them off the park I didn't see much of that from Benfica it was too hard for Celtic to bounce back after losing an own goal and a silly mistake from the same player.

eheh...i told u so guys... revenge would be served raw and it should be like 4-0... the difference between the level of the two teams was proven tonight, benfica is finally playing normally. Now all we need is to win against kobenhaven home and draw at old trafford. You´ll probably lose in denmark and who knows against man u.

anyways we still miss Rui Costa and Karagounis

Dont make me laugh. Nothing was proven tonight. We beat you lot 3-0 by good football, you won because of mistakes by us.

We are missing Wilson, Gravesen and Hesselink, 3 automatic starters so I dunno what your on about.

Mark Wilson, a attacking full back that can play on either side, broke his foot against Man Utd in the first CL match.

You lot played much better in Parkhead and we out played you everywhere.
You played ordinary tonight and Caldwell gifted you the result. Benfica proved nothing tonight, you can fool yourself all you want.

 

its only fair if we got our three back tonight eh? tradition continues...

All will be more clear on what each team needs to do after match day 5. Till then, i'm a happier man!

And now you want to make out that counter attacking football is bad football?

You have a severely biased opinion of Benfica and how good they actually are.

 

No good players amm.. is that why Miller stuck two past you's at Celtic Park Nuno Gomes? It was his first goal in 8 years in Champions League Football and it was gifted to him. Ill name some more McGeady, he was only on around 10-20 mins and he was already skinning your defence, JvoH, Maloney, Boruc, Gravesen.

You beat us because Caldwell had a few slip-ups we beat you on pure class.
