Never really had high hopes for this match in the first place. Its the same old story- no finishing touch, with a sitter here or there . Players like Fox and Fortunae are missed imo, thought the return of n'guemo proved that. We shuda subbed susan boyle on :50:

You say that mate, but look at previous seasons. We've never had the right to compete with the top European teams, but we have held our own year in year out.

How can you say we should be "happy" at that tonight? It doesn't matter if they are the best or worst team in the world, if you have as many chances as we had tonight, you must take at least one...it's a joke.

On another note: TM needs to stop trying to get these mugs to play "attractive, sexy football" when it's obvious to everyone and their dog that these players aren't up to it.

I just hope Fortune can produce miracles..:shamrock:

The Celtic team is badly needing overhauled, the manager needs funds from the board. The problems are obvious i think we need two decent strikers and two competant central defenders.
Europe imo is not a bonus, celtic should be doing a lot better than this, one point out of nine against one decent team from Germany and two poor teams from austria and israel.
This is not new football for celtic they play in europe every year, its not like we are a kilmarnock or a hibs side who dont play much euro football.
Celtic are not in crisis, but we should still be infront of r@njurs in the SPL. We should also have about 6 points from the europa league.
This celtic side have been in poor shape for more than a year now. The board must give the new manager backing in the shap of money for new players.

1 more point - Fortune is not a striker, his career record would suggest this, he had only scored approx. 65 league goals in 11 years before joining celtic, so for all the guys who are expecting Fortune to walk back into the side and score goals for fun, it wont happen. He will get his share, but not the 25/ 30 you would expect from a good front man.

I don't think the problem is with McGeady running into blind alleys, it's the fact that no one is getting forward when he is attacking and when they do they stop their runs or a bad cross comes in. I think McGeady recently has tried to do everything on his own because none of our strikers can do * right now. I thought Caldwell, McManus, and McDonald were the worst on the pitch today to be honest.

Very interesting match from a neutral position.
Both teams deserved a point Hamburg got three cause they used one of their chances and scored.Celtic also had chances enough.

btw who was that guy with no 20 who came late onto the pitch?
Should have played earlier - a good match from him on the left site

    Edit:Mc Court

didnt remember since yesterday evening and that without any beer oh oh

We didn't really have make any proper chances though, did we? We did, at times, move the ball around well in their half and McGeady, McCourt and Samaras ran at their defence and caused them problems. On another night it could have gone our way, but it didn't. Our focus this season should be giving Mowbray time to define his style of play and for the players to adapt to the new system and their roles in the team. Europe is a bonus. Case in point; Strachan's first season after inheriting O'Neill's geriatric superstars.

    scott brown

why play brown upfront with an ankle injury when you have two out and out strikers sitting on the bench.

His touch is sooo bad worst than a donkey touch.

and barry robson has nooooo pace wat so ever. slower than neil lennon and so one footed. we cant put 4 passes together.

Unlucky lads. You really don't have many options upfront, do you? McCourt was good once he came on, I thought.

Anyways, dunno if you knew but apparently Berg is a Celtic fan, well he got stick from the H$V fans for that when he joined them, anyway.

No, our strike force was poor last night. McDonald had a torrid game and Brown was a waste of a jersey. Samaras did what he could when he came up but he needed more support.

Most of the HSV fans were * last night. They had Union Jacks, N.Ireland flags, Hamburg 'Loyal' banners painted in orange and they were chanting about Rangers for large periods of the match.

    I agree totally.

I know most people will say it is our defence that is pish. Our we have no real playmaker in midfield. In my opinion we have nothing that resembles a striker.

The nature of the game is that you will always conceed but if you can't score you are screwed. Thats why the guy that can put the ball in the back of the net generally gets paid the most. Look back to MON days and we had 3/4 real quality strikers. That is why we were so hard to beat.

Now the dust has settled after the game, I would like to make an observation in my humble opinion not only do we lack inspiration, flair and ability all of which has been admirably covered in many threads but is it just me of does the team not look as fit as they have done in previous seasons??

Just back from the game. For me it was a great night despite the result. Met some great lads was up with the ShamrockBhoys which was a great laugh, met Tom Boyd before the game aswell, great guy he is. The fans from where i was last night were excellent uintil the end when understandably everyone was impatient and i never like to see the lads booed off. Still greatly enjoyed getting to see the game but Celtic were crap. Really those players have fans they dont deserve. I compltely understand why so many were getting dispirited with the team. Brown had a shocker again as did Skippy. McGeady did ok and Samaras and McCourt should have started, both were very good when they came on. Also i want to say that seeing those Hamburger SV fans has really made me like and respect St Pauli so much more. Hamburg fans are * scum bags and i will always hate these *. The Huns in with them were no better, a few scuffles on London Rd before the game i heard and also the absolute disgusting orange * and their new friends were heard singing the Famine Song after the game. Hopefully UEFA follow it up this time. Scotlands Shame and Germanys Shame unite. a disapointing night as far as results go but still greatly enjoyed the trip. Hail Hail.

We was * i was gutted when we went 1down , then and the same time delighted as my Berg 1st goal bet was up that's xmas sorted now , anyway back to the game we was poor and never really got going , Skippy was dire and should never have started it had to be Sammy as lone striker he was very good when he came on and done alot more than skippy done , 1nil flattered us last night hamburg was in control the full 90mins , Defence was * poor , Mark wilson is not fit enough to wear the Celtic shirt and Caldwell is a * Donkey him and Naylor caused the goal , Mc Manus done ok , Robson was poor too slow and deffo not good enough , Brown was just a headless chicken , Mc geady and Maloney was pants .

We cant even do the basic stuff so i duno how tony thinks this will work he needs to <!--width:540px-->wake up and change it soon its not working at all , mc Geady was a disgraceful with his dive in the 1st half should have really been booked , poor show .

Hamburg fans wasnt as bad as people on here make out , them having Rangers flags etc is all part of Football same with us With St Pauli ,

are the huns (rangers) so insecure and think nobody likes them that they have to go in with fans of another team so they look good and get a few mates?

We badly missed Hinkel & Fox.

I like Wilson, he tries, but when he made a Foul throw i just thought, your no where near good enough, i can cross a ball better than him.

I'm sick and tired of watching us make 3/4 good passes but soon as you know it gets to the final third, we give it away.

We seem to constantly panic on the ball, no composure at all apart from a few players.

I'm sick to the back teeth of people saying we have great spirit, dig, endeavor, commitment etc it can only get you so far.

Players solid quality please Tony. I dont care for fancey feet. Just real consistent quality please.
