Official Celtic statement

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Artur Boruc #1, Dec 16, 2011.

    The Green Brigade are a great asset to Celtic Football Club. However, the small minority of fans (green brigade or not) that caused the uproar at Udinese are people who really don't help our club.
    Right behind Lennon and Lawell on this one.

  1. How have they let you down though? They're talking about some * who assaulted someone, got arrested and waived a banner at UEFA the very week we've been fined by them for issues with fans.

  2. Peter Lawell! Guilty of doing the right thing! I stand by Celtic in their stance against people bringing the name of Celtic into disrepute.
    People involved in the banner etc are a disgrace!

  3. Exactly, putting up a banner and assaulting an innocent steward. I believe he was a Celtic steward as well. Is a complete and total disgrace. If found to be guilty he deserves whatever sanctions come his way.

    I'm so disgusted by it. It's not like our support to be involved with such headlines.

    We expect these headlines from THEM!

  4. yeah mate not talking about the fud that attacked the steward or the idiots that used the flares! his dig about the banner is what i didnt appreciate,flares shouldnt be used at football and this goes for every league but we are getting pulled for that.a little unfair about that but fair enough.

  5. It was highly irresponsible of Celtic to release this guys name, I am proud to live in a society that promotes the sentiments of innocence until proven guilty. The lad is entitled to anonymity until such time as he is charged and found guilty of a crime by a judge or jury.

    The banner lacked taste and the sentiments of message could have had a little more thought behind them, but they can not be deemed overly offensive and classed the same as racism, sectarianism, or homophobia etc. Last week i guesstimate about 30,000 voices chanted * the s.f.a after hearts penalty, will we all be banned for life now?

    Freedom of speech is very important in our society, Lawell uses it frequently when he makes jokes at Rangers/Craig whyte expense. Could his comments about gary hoopers 27million pound transfer which were a direct dig and, implied rangers released a statement which were a lie about a bid for jelivic, were these comments not offensive to craig white or rangers or does that not matter because it peter lawell deflecting attention from his own shortcomings in this summers transfer market?

    I hate it when players get foot in mouth and give our rivals motivation, sammy 2 seasons ago or commons last season. This year jelavic has gave us our dressing room pin up story. For the chief exec to use his right to freedom of speech to make fun of our rivals on numerous occasion, giving them plenty of ammo since they have been bankrupt for about 3 years now while winning the league is ludacris and lacked taste but he got a cheap laugh so wey hey!

    I wish he would concentrate on his job instead of making rash statements which have just as little thought and attention to detail as the banner they are about. He is paid roughly 4 times the going rate for his role and didnt do too well a few years ago when all wgs needed to give us 4 in a row and send rangers into financial armageddon was a striker and instead we got a 50 grand flood.

    Lawell and the pr machine want to stop letting the media put words into there mouth the banner should have been slated but the manner the manager and the cheif exec have chosen to do this leaves as bad a taste in my mouth as the banner ever could have.

  6. :50: Well said! Cannot believe how many people are turning this into an anti Neil rant, all for the sake of a stupid banner and a moron of a fan (not allegedly!)

  7. I found that extremely offensive! Celtic fans, in the past, have shown a real good sense of humour when they are trying to make a point against others but this is just plainly offensive and pathetic as was the dreadful f... UEFA banner!

    Industrial language does take place in all walks of life but to have it on a banner is just wrong!

    :bbpd:

  8. Me too. They have been a disgrace.

  9. Not managed to get abroad to see Celtic for few years now so could someone get me up to speed regarding these "stewards."
    Are they Celtic fans?
    If so, then what right have these "fans" to take down a banner from another Celtic fan(although it wasn't a great banner).
    If they are not Celtic fans then who are they?
    Are they part of Peter Lawells secret militia?
    Another thing,as this happened on Italian soil these "stewards" have absolutely no jurisdiction to take any banner down no matter how daft it is.So in-effect, all you have is two Celtic fans having an argument about the rights or wrongs about a certain banner.
    If a banner is deemed "illicit" or "illegal" then surely it's the job of the Italian police to take action regarding it.

  10. What is this Secret Militia? Secondly, if they are employed to work in the stadium (by Celtic in co-operation with Udinese) then it doesn't matter what country they're in. They are not police officers arresting someone in another country while off duty. How do you know they tried to take the banner down, or argued about it?

  11. :50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50::50:

  12. Good keep these * away from celtic park.

  13. .....

    :31::31::31::31::31::31:

    These "*" just spent hundereds of pounds following their team across Europe just before Christmas.

  14. ... and £1.50 for a tin of black paint and an off white sheet! Classy! Pure embarrasment and we really do not need this type of 'supporter.' What was he/they trying to prove? Cheerio:bbpd: Well said PL and NL!:50:
