I'm really praying we see the Celtic of the second half against United and Benfica, and not the Celtc of Lisbon (2006!) and first half against Utd.

If we play like the latter again in the CL again we could get embarrassed. yet if the real Celtic turns up, the one that has shown it's face in periods this season....

    I agree :56::56::56:

This formation could be changed easily to a 4-3-3 at half time if necessary, with Beattie coming on to replace JJ if needed..

    Boruc

    Telfer Caldwell Mac Manus Naylor

Jarosik Graveson Sno Nakamura Mc Geady

    Vennegoor

WGS has learned a lot from the previous games, win lose or draw, and AC Milan are no mugs....they have 11 class players..

We should do the unexpected against them 4-5-1, flood the midfield, and hit them hard on the break..:34::34::34:

Wha's the deal if Caldwell doesn't make it?

Is O'Dea in line to face Milan?

What a night that would be for him!

Ps: Very wise getting Jean Pierre Dumbell in this window. He can play either left or right back, which, seeing as we are down to our only guys in those positions made such a move a necessity! What would we have done if one of, or both, Telfer and Naylor got injured in the next couple of weeks?

    Hail, Hail :celt_2:

If Milan were to play at there best, we'd crush Celtic, theres no doubt, but we're not at our best, not by a long shot.. Nesta's not gonna be fit for at least for the first leg, Kaka's really our only danger, his pace is gonna be a problem for Celtic, there pretty slow in central midfield.
If Pirlo's given any space he'll hurt Celtic too as he's arguably the best passer in the world.
Another player they'll have to watch out for if he gets a chance is Yoann Goucuff, young French kid, labelled the new Zidane.. He's a copy of Kaka, only slower and a better passer. Keep them quiet and you'll keep i at least at a 0-0 as Gilardino can't create chances by himself and Seedorf's past it.
We'll probably line up 4-3-2-1 in the first leg, and our typical 4-1-2-1-2 in the second leg. You'll get at least a draw at CP, and probably lose by goal at the San Siro, i'm expectin Celtic to battle threw though.

    Welcome to TC, Gila#11

Our main problem at the moment is that we are missing Mark Wilson, Bobo Balde and Gary Caldwell. We are very thin in defensive cover but Strachan is after some defensive cover and he has a knack for finding good players cheap so hopefully we'll have it fixed in this transfer window.

Personally, i think 0-0 would be best (realistic) result in Celtic Park. Then when we go to Milan, your players know that one mistake and you'll have to score 2 goals. Hopefully that thought will affect your attacking mentality enough for Celtic to get an advantage and win.

Any other result will have Celtic defending deep or going gung-ho to get back into the tie and Milan will pick us off in the San Siro

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

He was my main worry. I think this is gonna be a great game, and I'm anticipating it more than ever now. Milan aren't performing at their highest level, and Celtic more or less has SPL in the bag. This is gonna be really even.

    BTW, welcome to TC pal!

We have one of the best home records in CL history, something which the mighty AC Milan are even wary of, we must look to ram home this advantage - as in true Scottish fashion, we also have one of the worst away records in CL history - sometihng that we are only far too aware of.

Hopefully Caldwell or McManus will be back by then, preferably both (any news?) If we sign Doumbe, then he's not cup tied & could look to possibly start at CB with Naylor, O'Dea, Doumbe & Telfer as our back 4. Doumbe has massive experiance by way of Camaroon in 2 World Cups, so I feel he could probably just go right in - otherwise who else? As Pressley is cup tied. John Kennedy has now played his 1st 90 mins in 2 years, see how he comes on in the next month, he might get a shout if Doumbe deal falls through.

If JVoH plays in both ties along with Naka, then we can use our threat at set pieces to good effect, especially as Milan are not playing well this season - they will certainly be wary of us at set pieces & with the crowd behind us at CP, we can maybe expect fouls around the box - like when Jarosik went down easily against ManUre for Naka to do his stuff :84:

For this reason I'm pretty confident that we could get a result from these 2 games, as long as we keep a clean sheet at CP - easier said than done, but Boruc plays at his best on CL nights & is one reason why we're still in the CL.

JVOH is going to be our main worry, he's strong, tall, good techinque, with no Nesta we've only got Kaladze that could fight off any physical challenge. Maldini's fought with the best but at almost 39, can he really still cut it??I doubt it.
Another striker im sure you're all far too aware of, scored that scramble late on 2 year ago, Pippo Inzaghi, he's *, yet he'll pop up with the most important goals. Milan are in need of a desperate revolution the suads getting old and slow.
Just to know how fast Gravesen and co will have to go

I'm not taken in with any of this..:87:
It's going to take a titanic effort from us to beat Milan
    over two legs..
Still I'm confident, and its imperative we get a clean sheet at Parkhead
    I would settle for 0-0...:celt_2:
For that reason alone, I would go with 4-5-1 :56::56::56:

Oh btw, Dida's back we'd of been definite out with only Kalac in goal.
Thanks Dempsey and Ruthless Scot, about Nesta, he picked up, what seemed to be a minor shoulder injury against AEK but he's had to go for an op and is a doubt for the second leg.

    We'll probably line up

    ---------Dida---------
    -----Kaladze--Maldini/Bonera
    -Cafu/Oddo----------Jankulovski

    ----Gattuso-Pirlo--Brocchi----

    ---------Kaka---Seedorf/Gourcuff
    -----------Gila/Oliveira-------
    Some info on lesser-known players.
Kaladze: Injury prone, had a good season last year, strong but kinda slow.
    Bonera: Solid, shaky at times
Cafu: if he's given rest before the game, he's a threat, still got it.
Oddo: New signing as of about 4 hours ago, he's average nothing special
Jankulovski:definitely a threat when going forward, decent LB
Brocchi: Like Gattuso only less fiery and technically better
Seedorf: Stunning shot, very slow on the ball can't run either.
Gila:A more accomplished version of JVOH, not as tall, and probably abit weaker, but overall a better player, bought last season for 17m£
    Oliveira: FAST

I really do think Celtic will respond going to the San Siro whatever the score at CP is because I think the away jinx will go out the window as Celtic usually play better against better teams plus thousands of fans will be there cheering the team on

I reckon for the CP game, you'll go with just Oliveira up front because of his pace and our slow centre halfs. In the San Siro, i reckon Gila and Oliveira will both start cos arent Milan expected to attack at home because of the influence of the chairman?

We might try Miller on Kaladze, he is slow but he knows it and doesnt get caught out much.

Yea Berlu demands a two striker formation, but we got our last 3 in a row 3-0 wins with that formation. two were at the SS so we might still play with one forward.
He won't play Oliviera, Ancelotti has a preference for Gila, i guess cos he's the only thing getting us goals. Very much almost snapped his shin on sunday, it bent pretty far but it only turned out to be a bad bruise, otherwise we'd of being playing with super Pippo:87: Oliveira's sister got kidnapped in Oct, so i guess that'll effect him on the pitch and that's probably why he's so * selfish...Remember how Baros played for Villa, head down, run like *, that's Oliveira.
