He’s honestly so bad, extremely slow and clumsy.

Can’t wait to see the back of him!

Seriously can't believe Ange is still playing this waste of Jersey.

He looks tidy rather than clumsy in my honest opinion. I think he has been picked because he has experience and it shows in his overall game. Bitton has played better than Starfelt, who needs to take advantage of the experience beside him and hopefully play with more confidence and composure.
I can accept he has got sent off and has made mistakes but I dont think all the criticism is really warranted, considering how hes improved the last couple of games :fear:

He’s great on the ball and breaks the press easily to get the ball forward quick which is what Ange exactly wants,he’s never a defender though and will cost us a lot of goals but also create a lot.

Hope Welsh gets his chance but Bitton is obviously highly rated at the club.

Move him into the midfield, or out of the club. Defenders need to be able to defend.

He’s painfully bad at cb, Welsh is a much better option but we need a better calibre player than both

If Ange is selecting Bitton ahead of Welsh then you can only assume he's not liked what he's seen from Welsh in training, its very hard to see where he would draw the conclusion that Bitton is a better defender than Welsh based on game time.

Don’t think it’s for defensive reasons he’s being selected

A central defender should be chosen on his ability to defend first and foremost.

It should be a mix for me, one that hinders the team by constantly giving the ball away dangerous areas but can be excellent defensively defeats the point for me. That’s not Welsh but. He’s ok on the ball. Not brilliant but ok.

Punting the ball when at risk prevents this. I know it's what fans hate to see, but it is sensible.

Not always, it can be a sure fire way to pin yourself back and play panicky football. It has it’s place and the best know when to do it. CanNt be the first option

Only reason I can think Bitton is in ahead of Welsh is experience and his range of passing. Ange wants ball players and Bitton for all his faults, is better with the ball than Welsh. But, this is where Ange needs to be pragmatic, our defence is weak, so make it stronger and play the best defenders until he can get his own CB in.

If a player is under no pressure, then passing out normally is possible. If under organized pressure, then punting is pretty much necessary. The only improvement a non-elite side should look for is making sure the defenders look up before punting, because an "aimed" punt is actually the start of a possible counterattack.

Seems as if he favors Bitton for his ability to play out from the back, he did do well with that ball to Gogo for his goal but he is rank at defending and has cost us bigtime in big games. Just reckon Walsh and Starfelt our best options right now, get them playing regularly together, build up a partnership. Dreading the prospect of Bitton at CH against Huns.

    I just don’t get why he’s playing.

Why not play Welsh and let him get better at playing Ange tactics? It’s not like Welsh can’t pass a ball and he’s ripe to improve if he played the last few games. Welsh has the added bonus of being able to defend and doesn’t throw big games.

Maybe Ange is trying to make the point that he needs another CB. Pure speculation but it feels like he was given a choice of CB to pick from, where he knows he needed 2.

As fans we are biased. We have seen his shitebaggery, his mistakes, his fake injuries. Ange ignores that and looks at a guy who looks relatively calm on the ball. Probably better than Welsh in the training exercises. However he dropped barkas after giving him a few chances. I have no doubt a few more mistakes and Bitton will be dropped.

Instead of Turnbull (as a rotation), then.
