Im not going comment to on right wrong part because I havent read into the situation but I think hes sees as right and hes not going to change his views on something he probably feels strongly about just because hes * off a few of the fans of the club hes plays for who probally have never been near that part of the world and experienced the situation like he has throughout his whole life

He is indeed only young and I'm sure has been influenced by at least as much media propaganda as our own young soldiers. Not to mention peer pressure and family tradition. What does abuse achieve, exactly? We just have to suck it up and get on with it.

I have never read more nonsense from Celtic fans than is being written in this thread.
I have been a Celtic fan for 50 years. Spent my youth in the Jungle watching Jinky and King Kenny. I lived in Israel for 2 years and I support Israel 100% in this fight against terrorists. I know many other fans that feel the same way. Here is some news: most of the Arab states want Hamas destroyed too, that's why the criticism from them has been so mooted. Some of you younger fans have a knee * reaction to the conflict and want to support the perceived underdog without taking any time to educate yourself on the subject. You've been brainwashed by a compliant leftist media and you don't even know it. When has it been a litmus test of any Celtic player or fan that he take a particular political position. Celtic has been the most tolerant of clubs. Those of you that want to impose your views on the club and other fans are the ones out of step with the traditions of this great club. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
As for the army service, every Israeli male must serve in the IDF.The days of Jews going to the slaughter without a fight are over. Better get to used to it What's more, they fight pretty * good.
This thread is not in the spirit of the club or its history. You's ought to be ashamed and embarassed.

I don't know too much about it. However, I'd hardly call killing children "pretty * good" fighting.

Don't be so idealistic and naive. Every war has civilian casualties. Those that the RAF killed in Dresden, or died in Hiroshima, or in Vietnam, or yes, in Ireland. Think they were all army. Get real. The only way to avoid that is to avoid war. I will be the happiest man alive when that happens.

what a shocker, an israeli supporting the israeli military. Good on him as far as i'm concerned he didn't say anything disgusting just supporting his country in its time of need.

I'm just going to make a wee comment on Biton and his football with Celtic. I was quite impressed with him at times last season and look forward to seeing more of him. The only issue is deciding who to drop for him. Even if we had one of our starting midfielders out injured there's still a tough decision to make. I would consider him, Brown, Johansen, Mulgrew and McGregor to be the players I want to see in midfield this season. I just can't choose only three. Maybe we are more lucky with our midfield options than some people on here believe.

Regarding this business tonight. I don't really care about his views as he has the right to create his own opinions. I think that he should be more aware of the things he says and does. When you are in a position where you have the eyes of lots of supporters and others on you then you need to be aware of how people will react. As you have seen tonight it has resulted in some bad reactions from our support. I'm hoping that nothing else comes of this situation and that he learns from this to be more careful. I know that if I was a Celtic player I would keep my opinions between myself and trusted people as it would be better for my own good to concentrate on football and not having to deal with the things others have to say.

Don't be so naive. Every war has civilian casualties, on all sides.Check out the RAF attacks on Dresden or Liepzig, or the millions that died in Hiroshima and vietnam, or the 170,000 that have died in the syrian civil war, or yes, the civilians killed by both sides in the Troubles. The only way to avoid civilian casualties is to avoid war. I will be the happiest man alive when that happens. For now, don't single out or subject just Israel for your idealism.

Israel haven't tried to avoid innocent civilians though.

They e specifically targeted children and hospitals.

the problem with his post is not his support of the army but that he says 'who stand guard over our land and cities' ........ that is the problem NIR,,, they are not in their own *' land and are indiscriminately attacking a civilian population.

Israel has never and refuses to define its supposed state borders.

I honestly don't understand how this is even slightly controversial. He's an Israeli Jew it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which side he will be supporting when it comes to the situation in Gaza. As others have said he probably has family and friends serving in the IDF.

I don't know as I don't follow him on twitter and have only been made aware of this controversy by reading this thread. Did he tweet his support to the families of the 3 Israeli teens who were abducted and murdered to kick this whole thing off? I doubt he tweets messages of support every time something sad happens in that part of the world. As others have said he himself has served in the IDF, hardly shocking he would tweet a message of support as they enter combat.

aye, dropping bombs from aircraft over civilians is entering combat..:smiley-laughing002:. If they want to fight go march out into the desert... same goes for those launching rockets from civilian areas...

if any other country in the world acted as Israel does then other countries would mount an offensive against them. The easy answer would be for all oil producing countries to refuse to sell any oil to israel... that would stop their offensive

Israeli troops have entered Gaza earlier today and are clashing with Hamas forces, I'd say that qualifies as combat by anyones definition. Being a former IDF member and a young Israeli he almost certainly knows people in the IDF who will be in the line of fire so I think it is understandable he would want to show his support.

Leave him be. He's part of the #CelticFamily.

So we now have Stokes - The Irish Republican, VVD- The *, James Forrest - The Helicopter, Tony Watt - The lose cannon, Leigh Griffiths - The Racist shoplifter. Now we can add to that a Zionist nutter.

We have a very dysfunctional family. But its our 'family'. #CelticFamily #BeCeltic

Haha, we do have a funny mix.

You only have to look at the amount of Palestiian refugees in Syria being murdered to get an idea of the media focus on Israel. So it's probably not true to suggest that if all the Israeli people left Palestine tomorrow the middle east would all live together in peaceful harmony.

Err, you know why the Palestinians are refugees at all right? Obviously the refugee camps are * places but they shouldn't be necessary in the first place.

    I'm not picky.
Hmmmm Israeli Jews take the land from Palestinian Arabs and yet it's the Palestinians that are the terrorists for wanting their own land back. Aye, OK.

As for Biton, well, I may not support his views or the side that he will obviously be supporting but it won't stop me from supporting him as a player.
