Either way mate if he was going to be top class he would have showed it by now imo. He's not one of these lads that maybe * around when they were younger and, wasted a few years and only wised up in their early 20's. Seems sensible off the pitch, trains hard. He's just not good enough imo

Give the boy a break! You cannot punt the McGinns/Forrests because they are not turning it on every week. Celtic and Scottish football are not in such a healthy position that we can get rid and buy better players. What was it Aston Villa paid for Bent 24 mill? We cannot compete. this is the market that we are in where we need to bring young players through, nurture them and allow them to develop and get better without this constant criticising of players. Get real!

Him and Forrest havent been the same since their injuries. Doesnt make them bad players. Both need to regain form and confidence and theyl be good again. On their day i rate both of them pretty highly.

Nial McGinn is 22, James Forrest is 19. They say a footballer is in their prime from an average age of 27-28 years old leaving them both quite a few years to go. Tallent does not come in an instance although its potential can be recognised at a young age. Sometimes it developes and sometimes it does'nt and thats the way it goes. If we are getting on our young players backs because they are having a bad spell then we can be guilty of destoying their confidence and possibly their chance of progression. I remember when Henrik was going through a dry spell of goals there were actually neanderthal so called Celtic fans shouting for him to be dropped or sold. Astonishing||| Give the young lads a chance and it will serve them and the team better to cheer and support them even if they have a bad game and albeit if they are not good enough to play for us then we can be assured it was because of their lack of ability and not the fact that the know all boo boys didn't destroy their confidence. Mon the young Hoops.

Sorry my friend, I stand corrected, he is not 22 and nearly 24, does this mean he is 23?? :rolleyes:He is still young for a professional footballer, my point still stands.

Ideally I'd like Sebastian Larsson from Birmingham but doubt he'd come here.

mcginn's a poor RM, he's right footed yet he never goes to the byline, always the safe cut inside and pass sideways, forrest on the otherhand, altho inconsistant, goes to the byline and gets his crosses in, he's 4 years younger but is a better player than mcginn, even when he does cross or shoot, there usually poor efforts, also a bad decision maker, i liked the look of him last season, but he seems to have lost all confidence, unless he gets that back, sell him!

Looked a great prospect when first introduced, if he was promising then there is no reason why he can't recover that form. I do agree he has offered little lately and certainly should have been one of the first to be taken off yesterday.
However we cannot afford to off-load the likes of McGinn because of a dip in form, a run in the reserves would be the correct course of action at this time. I have no doubt he will come back again stronger than ever.

he's definitely not good enough at the moment but maybe it is just a lack of confidence. What use is a winger who never tries to beat his man or get to the by-line and constantly just passes the ball back to the fullback?

Just not suitable for the first team at the moment, try him out in reserves are said above, hopefully he can improve and return to the first team with some attributes.

I don't think you can compare Forrest and McGinn, Forrest on a bad day is still a far better footballer in just about every sense.

Forrest will come good, I don't think McGinn will ever be a consistently good winger for Celtic.

He's a good squad player. Struggles to do it when he starts games but can make an impact off the bench. Reckon he'd probably be better suited to a counter attacking team which we don't play in the SPL as we dominate long periods of play.

I'd keep him though. He's a better back up winger than we've had in the past. Forrest would be my first choice RW. Looked like he was coming back into form against Hibs.

pace, effort, tries to take on the man as much as possible. no a bad crosser of the ball and scored a few goals. does nothing fancy hasnt the trickery like mcgeady but he is a direct player.

I think he tries to take on the man as little as possible. He bottles it every time. I haven't seen him beat his man once this season.

    We should sell.
