4-3 shootout loss in Montreal by the B's. It was good to see them pick up one point after getting beaten so badly in the 1st period.

I am a big hockey fan. This is last forum I expected to see a NHL thread.

How many British folks actually watch hockey though...

In honesty i wouldn't think many do, i would love more coverage on the basic channels here, hockey looks a good sport to watch.

I used to like the Avalanche for some bizarre reason that would sound very odd to you all, but now I'm liking the Canadiens more. My dad is a huge fan of them because when he was growing up he said they played beautiful hockey. He compared it to watching Arsenal or Barca when they are fully on their game.

It's hard for me to like the California teams because it seems such an odd place for a hockey team to be placed... unless they were to go to Tahoe or something in the mountains.

Its not really that odd. So Cal is large in population, and is pretty rich.

Lol, I know... I was pretty happy for Anaheim when they won it, but it's just weird having teams in warm-weather cities.

Yea, most hockey teams down south should be moved. Need to get another team or two back in Canada
But it's also weird when a team is made by * Disney.

Well NHL was carried by Disney at one point.

And what team do you think should be moved?

    Dallas-A success. Great crowd.
Tampa-Same as Dallas, except its more successful.
Atlanta-Bad sports market in general. Not necessarily Thrasher's (well yes it is) fault. But if successful, will be success.
    Florida-same as Atlanta
Anaheim-Its So Cal. We need a team in So Cal besides the dreadful Kings.
Nashville- Pretty successful so far (ownership is actually the biggest issue, not fans), despite how media portrays them. Trust me on this one.
Carolina-A decent market.Should be left alone, period.

    Who else?

And Canada has no city to relocate to.

Winnipeg-Too small, and arena is too small. its not even a city for me, its a town.
    Hamilton-Leafs/Sabres will *.

Florida and Atlanta could easily be moved without anyone caring
Winnipeg isn't too small, they can easily take a team again, the arena is 15k for the Manitoba Moose, that's fine, GM Place only holds 3k more.
Maybe another in Quebec? Ontario? Halifax? Saskatoon to make it noticeable?
Stadiums can easily be built or just rennovated. There's enough people to fill them.

Saskatoon is out of question. Way too small. Seriously.

Quebec won't build another new arena.

Winnipeg is borderline, but I say its still too small. Not even a mil within the metro. Raleigh is fine because they draw fans from Charlotte too.

3k makes a lot of difference. 2 or 1k makes a lot of difference. Besides, older 16,000 arenas are being replaced. Islanders will move out of Nassau within next 10 years. Edmonton Oilers will have a new arena by end of next decade I predict.

Better filling a 15k arena than having ones not even close to being full like lots of the teams in the states do. I've read an report that says our 6 Canadian teams out of the league's 30, pull in a third of the ticket revenue. A THIRD. 8 of your American teams make less than a half of what Edmonton/Ottawa(lowest revenue for Canadian teams) pulls in. But they're placed there because thier big cities, even though no one really cares about thier team. Those teams include Pheonix (last in sales), Islanders, Florida, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, Nashville, and St Louis. I'm not saying move all of them, but a couple can be thrown up here, they would definately bring in revenue. Everyone would love more Canadian teams

Agreed. Would love to see more Canadian teams in the NHL.

Used to watch Canadian Hockey Night on NASN (US Sports channel) every Saturday and the atmosphere in the Canadian arenas always was great/loud. You Canadians love hockey :50:

and btw: Sundin signed for the Canucks. Good move! Much better than moving to the NYR

:50: Hockey Night in Canada is classic.
The thing is Bettman doesnt want more teams in Canada. One guy has tried to buy Pittsburgh then Nashville but both bids were blocked cause he was going to move them to Hamilton. No one can stay they don't deserve a team. just from his bid about to be finalized, they sold 15k season tickets. But they dont want another team up here, especially one that will take away from Toronto and Buffalo. The demand is in Canada, not in * markets that they expand to cause they have bigger cities.

Definately can't wait for Sundin to start playing with us now, shaping up to be a team that can make a good run in the playoffs. Maybe even all the way....I can dream.

By the way to any Edmonton fans on this site, you guys just traded for Erik Cole who is from my home town (Oswego, NY) and I skated with him as a kid when he visited his old youth coach who also coached me. (he was playing at Clarkson during this time)

I went to watch him play during the NCAA championships and always try to catch the Olympic games when they are on and he is playing.
