Hooper I think is the best out of the 4 there. Dembele was at his best but Hooper was more reliable than him. * love Hooper, right about being underrated. Even at the time, mind he was called just a poacher? Mental.

I don’t think he was ever really 3rd choice, the season Eddy was on loan he was neck and neck for first, Dembele underperforming and Eddy coming in and out as 3rd choice or sometimes 2nd for certain games or situations.

The three of them as options, that’s the highest quality since Henrik, Sutton and Hartson though. Having that kind of quality I’d love just now but don’t demand because it’s a very high bar.

I want at the least like start of last season, Kyogo and Idah, and a young 3rd option. That could be Maeda like the end of the season, that’s fine for me. But we cannot have just Idah and unknown options that the manager clearly rates that way in Kenny and Yamada. And I like the two of them, but as 3rd for me.

For Griffiths there, I imagine I’d think that if he’s a joiner on a site I work with or that. But he could have been great, and squandered it until he was beyond poor. His goal record for us, when he was awol for about 2 and a half seasons, imagine if he stuck in? Look at him only having what, 12 caps I think? He could have been the best Scottish striker since McCoist or even Dalglish before that

I'd love a poacher, if only for the league.

We definitely need a striker. Either an improvement on Idah or competition for him. Kenny isn't the answer, hopefully Yamada can contribute though.

Would you take Jamie Vardy on a one year deal?

I really wanted that to happen but don’t think we’re looking. Scored 9 or so for Leicester who were shocking, not a starter last season. He would be useful as a player still, and I’d love the experience to bring on in certain games. And he’s a shithouse at seeing out games.

For a 3rd choice, a highly experienced guy who still brings something on the pitch or a young guy great potential is what I’ve always said are the options we should do. I lean t

Sign a left winger and keep Yang as cover for another 6 months until Jota is back, would still have option of putting Maeda there if needs be if new left winger is injured or rested.

Sign a new RW, with Forrest as main back up but would have Yang and Nygren as cover options too.

Would then give you Maeda, Idah and Yamada as striker options.

Ideally would punt Idah to anyone daft enough to want the lump of wood and bring in another striker to back up/rotate with Maeda but at this point in the window I'd say that's unlikely.

its the same for idah as it was for kyogo as its gonna be for yamada or any new striker we bring in the service into the box is terrible . the horseshoe of doom will swallow all the strikers. as for the o.p. i dont think we need a new striker unless or untill there is a vast improvement in quality on both wings

The poacher stuff was wild, strong as an ox, quick, clever, could drop off link the game, amazing touch and probably the most clinical striker i can remember.

Fair enough if you don’t demand that but I do because i know its possible and I know how much money is sitting there not being spent to make that team the best it can possibly be. It’s also not fair on the players who clearly need help, Idah’s confidence is only gonna get more and more shot if he doesn’t sit out.

two players always stick out for me in terms of unprofessionalism stopping them being really really top players and thats Griffiths and Paddy McCourt. I’ve still never seen anyone beat players with such ease than McCourt but couldn’t do more than 20 mins a gane.

I’m not sure Griffiths helped himself with his company, i remember during that period I was at the casino and he was on his own table next to me playing alone and i watched him lose about 10k in 20 minutes but his oals are egging him on to keep going - no wonder he ended up struggling mentally.

Same for any striker in world football, you can’t try play a ball over the top everytime someone makes a run but they just need to keep making it, had countless arguments with strikers over that haha. Kyogo did deserve a lot more for his though.

The service into the box once they work it for the delivery i think is actually pretty good but its hard to create chances with no wingers with 11 men behind the ball sometimes. Tierney has helped a lot with his running power snd delivery but theres no * striker to finish them

    Wasn't the (only) reason.
GG himself came out and stated the club renegadeed on an agreement to offer him a better deal and that caused bad blood as well as the game time thing.

    We definitely need another striker.

And 2 wingers. Minimum. Shouldn't be settling for less but no doubt will have to cos we've * about again.

Unfortunately mate, he won’t, he could smash a hat trick in midweek and have a perfect 10 of a game and it’ll be dismissed.

People had him as incapable scoring against Falkirk on Friday, nearly strangled a * in the pub when I said he smashed 2 against Villa ya nonce and got back aye but they pumped us.

And that’s where we are with him. Whatever he does, he will need to do more. The price tag is a noose on him, and us not reinforcing up front or the wing so we can move Maeda inside is the trapdoor.

We need a starting striker. We also need a starting right-winger, a starting centre-half, and a back-up left back. Which is the most pressing is a matter of debate, but the fact that we need players in these positions I don't think can be argued against.

I’d argue CB. Not even seen the last CB signing yet. The rest I can’y even rank as most imperative. They are all absolutely crucial. They’re all top priority

But but but... "Idah has more than repaid his fee!".

I always chuckle at that reasoning. Hes pish. Looks devoid of either confidence or more worryingly concern. Even when his teammates score hes the last one over to congratulate and looks like he couldn't give a tuppenny *.

Or maybe , like Scales I just "hate him because hes Irish". Not because hes *.

But back on point, total agreement, keep Maeda as striker and get wingers in pronto.
