u know experience doesnt guarentee a success either, but he may not have managerial experience, but he has celtic experience and that an advantage he has over the other candidates,do u remember last season, mowbray gave strachans players a chance because he didnt really know what was going on at celtic, and then changed everything in January, well lenny will know who to let go and who to bring in NOW,and he'll get a team together that will settle as the season goes not change everything half way through like other managers may do

Apparently situation with Mowbray and Lennon earning his badges for Champions League were probably the reason for this delay. Don't know how much either have made impact, it's nothing official.

Reid said they never stoke to anyone bar Lenny, which can well be a big fat lie. I find it hard to believe that as we had rumours that Desmond interviewed several people, Grant's agent said there was interest from Celtic etc.

About 1 year deal... It's 1 year contract which probably includes option to prolong it if board think he did a good job. It decreases the risk of getting in Mowbray situation all over again and it's measure of precaution as Lennon isn't exactly guaranteed success, just like any manager who could've got the job.

We all know the risks now and if we didn't it's been done to the death on here. We know it's a gamble and we know the pros and cons to Lennon being the Celtic manager.

It's done now, lets just get behind him.

I have to say I find it a bit cheesy the way Lenny constantly plays on his own myth and rambles on about passion, love of club, fight. Problem is we have a rabble who lap this stuff up in large numbers. I would rather have a guy like a robot who knows nothing about the club but is an experienced manager with a winning knack. I hope Lenny drops all this cheesiness and rabble rousing.

Lets not get involved in a fight about Mogga.
It's all about Lennon today. Know I brought Mogga into it but it was just because I've got a better feeling about Lennon

As far as I'm aware, O'Neill, Strachan, Mowbray and now Lennon have all been on 1 year rolling contracts.

Experience doesn't guarantee success but it with experience it's more likely. How do you know Lennon has a good eye for a player? How do you know he's tactically astute? How do you know he can handle the pressures of a long season?

Maybe you could all stop * moaning. Give him a chance you have no idea how our season is going to turn out. Maybe give your opinion when you have actually seen what he can do.

Honestly are Celtic fans ever happy!!!

but taking the very long shot gamble on a rookie when we are 2 titles down needs criticised. I do not believe for a minute there were not people available who were far less of a gamble. Maybe not top names but people with vast and varied experience.

Congrats to Neil Lennon and all the best. I hope he gets in some good signings, gets rid of the dead-wood, and gets another good run of wins going to keep us in the CL and get us in the title race.

You do not appoint people of no experience to top jobs and then wait and see how they do. Its not some sort of experiment. This is the equivalent of appointing a 15 year old till girl a branch store as chief executive of Virgin

I am giving him a chance, he'll receive my full backing. But as this is a discussion board, I'll use it for it's intended purpose.

We have no option, but constantly moaning isnt going to change the fact that Neil is our manager now. We should be getting right behind him. We dont know whats going to happen but in football anybody we appoint would of been a risk and we would have had to wait and seen how they got on. I didnt expect the "experienced" Mowbray to * up as spectacularly as he did but it happened.

Just get behind our club. :shamrock:
