Just thought you should know that if you applied for a job and were offered it on condition that you paid for your own NEBOSH training and certificate you should be able to claim some of the cost back from HMRC.
I got original SIA badge and training through job centre for free but had to pay for renewal otherwise I would lose my job.
    Claimed back the renewal cost.

I've genuinely no idea what sort of Nebosh it was mate. All I know is he told me it took him nearly 2 years to complete. (He started it in December 2021. He finished it in August 2023... so been a long time coming for him. Then I see people in here saying you can complete it in 10 full days with classroom training so I have absolutely no idea what sort of Nebosh it was, whether it was global, national... I'll try find that all out for you on Friday. I'd assume, given the location and nature of his new job (off the coast of Africa) that it's a Global Qualification he's went for. Again though, it could be a British Company he's working for. I genuinely have no idea.

I have a meeting with him every week so I'll be seeing him on Friday and I'll be sure to ask him, for you. :50:

I imagine he has the diploma, it's the equivalent of a degree. Takes 2 years of part time study. Lots of H&S managers don't even have it but H&S directors do. Fair play to the guy for doing that, bet it's rock hard.

Hey, I passed by NEBOSH HSE Introduction to incident investigation, equivalent to and SQA Level 7 (Higher, A-Level). I'm now studying the NEBOSH NGC, and aim to have that completed in 3 months.

Just a reminder, if your work pays for a NEBOSH or IOSH course and you then leave suddenly, they legally can't charge you because it's health and safety and employers can't charge employees for H&S training.

What is the general NEBOSH criteria, do you need to have specific qualification before engaging in this or can random bob from the street do this course and get a job? I have a sandwich dergree in accountancy no that I am looking to do this, I just don't really know what it is and how it works in everyday work places, is it just like construction?

Anybody can do it the National General Certificate, you need that or an equivalent to do the diploma.

Not just construction, all companies will have a H&S policy even an office or a call centre. All work places need to abide by HASAWA 1974. Because of this there is always jobs for H&S managers and advisors.

Got my results through today and that’s me passed at the first attempt (both units). So glad I don’t have to go through that exam again as it’s a whole day for the written part of the exam. Not sure what my next steps are going to be now after getting the qualification but glad I have this under my belt now to keep my options open.

I take my NG1 on Wednesday, 24 hour exam. I think I can pass it though. I hoped to have taken the exam by now but March and April set my study back with a mixture of family emergency and end of year finances.

I'll then get onto module 5 the following week. Modules 5 to 11 look more fun.
