WGS must also take some responsibility for this situation, by ignoring the fact new blood was needed when it was blatently apparent to all Timdom that we were crying out for another left fullback.
Fox has started strong, especially impressive when going forward, and has already registered a couple of assists. If Naylor wants his spot back he will have to lift his game considerably from what he has been producing for much of the past 2 seasons. -

cant see naylor getting anywhere near the first team again unless fox gets injured or suspended, fox is the superior player as far as i can see.

Naylor = Bombscare.
Fox = Composed. -
He took in the emergency Camara, who ended up out his depth, but Naylor proved to be good in his first season. His subsequent decline co-incided with the realisation that we are way way off Premiership moneys. Kadlec being a classic case in point - ticked all the right boxes apart from the wages - so he went to an average German team!! The boxes being Good enough for Celtic, Cheap enough wages, Cheap enough transfer fee, not being on anyone elses radar and being happy to play in the SPL. Pretty tough criteria I'm sure you'll agree...
Others who WGS would strive to take in included 2 guys who ended up at Portsmouth (Belhadj and some other guy I forget), Atouba who again went to an average German side, Atunes who ended up staying in Italy, Marek Cech who wasn't/isn't good enough for WBA and I'm sure hundreds more that we're not even aware of.
I would blame the financial climate before Strachan when it comes to the LB situation... -
P.S. Fox has been brilliant in my eyes, although a teensy bit slow for my liking (being picky here!)
He's strong in the tackle, strong in the air, but most importantly as Connely said - composed on the ball. The ratio of Row Z crosses has plummetted for the good. In fact I'm surprised at the number of crosses from the left that actually hit a forward! -

Naylor is a bit of a conundrum really.
His first season was superb and there was even talk of England (cough) call up (cough).
Alex Ferguson liked him, especially after THAT game at Old Stratford.
What a lot of posters have said on this topic is right, and I believe the injury to Wilson was the key element - he knew he wasn't to be shifted unless he got injured.
Fox has impressed me and a couple of work colleagues (Coventry City fans) are always asking how he's doing and whether or not they can have him back.
I suppose the jury is out on him, but he stood up well in the Arsenal games and if he thought the SPL was a similar level to the Championship, I think he's been sorely mislead.
The challenge for him is to step up in Europe (like Naylor did in his first season) and bomb on from there.
I would like to see him score from one of his free kicks to be honest, because he has that talent - come to think of it, so did Naylor!!

I do think however that Naylor got a rough deal from a lot of Celtic fans, he didn't intentionally go out to play badly but sometimes, if he had one bad cross within the opening 10 mins of a game a section of fans would be on his back straight away - not going to do much good to his confidence and it could be argued contributed to his poor form, but fair play to him as despite this he never shirked out of a game and always made himself available to receive the ball despite knowing his own club supporters were likely to have a go if he made a mistake. -

The main difference between the 2 is Fox's distribution which is far better. In saying that Naylor was flying when he joined as well and everyone loved him, his form dropped and suddenly he was the whipping boy. I just hope the same thing doesn't happen to Fox because you can see he's a good footballer.

Someone suggested at the beginning of the thread that Fox is a better crosser of the ball. From what ive seen this season hes not. I went to the st johnstone game and watched every celtic game online since the beginnig of the summer (including pre season) and Fox it hot and cold with his crosses.
I heard he had a cracking left foot before coming to scotland but his crosses/freekicks has left nothing to the imagination. I hope i am proved wrong over the next few months.
Too sum up, at the minute Fox is a better play than naylor however dont rule out naylor just yet. He is a good back up for fox. -

"Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you" - says Danny Fox.
It's obvious to me that we have more composed, more reliable, attacking threat in Fox. He's way better than he's older fellow Englishman, he shown it in pre-season, as well as in competitive games. I don't want to repeat what everyone here said about comparing their skills.
I just somehow feel Naylor's good-1st-season syndrome may strike Fox...
