I think he would still score more goals at 41 than either Watt or Stokes (I know he's injured) do for us right now. Just my opinion, but he would still storm the SPL, even now.

A front pairing of Larsson and Hooper, with Samaras out on the left and Commons/Forrest down the right, would worry ANY defence in the world, including the Barcas and Real Madrids.

Anyway, enough about Ghod. We should probably keep to talking about Nakamura :50:

Don't think it will happen. He's technically better than any player we have, probably still, but probably wouldn't want to come back and risk ruining the memories.

No, you're right. He isn't past his best. 34 now ffs. :56: He didn't even start in any of 4 games for Japan in the last World Cup - and that was over 2 years ago. He's at still his peak then? :56: Idiotic statement.

The vast majority of players we are linked with by obscure websites turn out to be a non-story, are you disagreeing with that? There's no source, no quotes, nothing. File under pish indeed. I guess we'll see if anything comes of this in January, but I'm not holding my breath. :50:

Rotation never hurt anybody. We would be able to find a place for him, especially now that Brown is hardly able to finish 90 minutes, due to his hip injury.

    Some weeks it could be:

    Brown Wanyama Nakamura Ledley

And then in other weeks, Brown could be replaced with Forrest, Ledley could be replaced with Samaras, Naka could be replaced with Ledley etc.

He was a good player which i thought was played in the wrong position under strachan but at 34 would he have the legs?

Sammy Ledley Wanyama Brown Kayal Commons

Its hard enough trying to pick 4 out of these players and thats not including forrest and wee dillan

Then you have neil trying to fit chico into the midfield + ambrose getting a game there also now and again

If this does happen we all know its for shirt sales

I think we should be trying to blood through youngsters in the SPL

You are being falsely nostalgic.. we would get overrun in midfield if we played him at CM. He's not physically up to it any more, and I doubt there's any truth in this.

For a wee rest to Commons at times and for when we need something different....

Japan - He has expressed that while he will never turn his back on his nation he would prefer to abstain from International matches. Also, incase you did not notice Japan are hardly lacking in the talent department of that position.

The more you post, the more I understand you understand nothing about his career and are just guessing at what his fitness and general ability is like since leaving Celtic.

I watch the J-league. I have seen him push his side to decent finishes considering they are basically mid to lower level in terms of team ability.

As for quotes and source. That website is pretty legit in Japan and contains quotes from his agent, the same agent that said in Japanese media he was going to join Celtic, in which I remember a number of fans also calling BS.

Please stop posting as if everything you say is fact, or dressing your OPINIONS as gospel.

If, he rejoins when his contract runs out, I can say that he has been playing at a higher level consistantly than he would in the SPL. He would be an excellent addition to the team, even for a year.

Just some of last seasons highlights.

He still has a wand of a foot, a decent bit of space and more importantly, the knowledge to use his skill to create bags of space....

You said he wasn't past his best. He was Japan's best player for years, he then failed to start in any of the 2010 WC matches, that suggests that his level dipped significantly - which it has. I'm not doubting that he's still a pretty good player, he's clearly not as good as he once was.

How do I not know anything about his career? Do you think you have some sort of superior knowledge of him because you live in Asia? :smiley-laughing002:

If anything official comes up with him coming to us, I'll apologise. Until then it's just some meaningless link in a foreign site, without any quotes. I could name you 40 or 50 players over the last year that have been linked with us in this way, and nothing has ever came of it. This'll no doubt be the same again.

He's competiting with Shinji Kagawa and Honda for an atacking midfielder position. Add that to the fact he's only there for an emergency as such... he won't get much game time.

Meaningless link from a foreign site? It is a Japanese site, he is Japanese? With quotes from his Agent, the man no doubt Celtic would contact about his ability. I would not call that meaningless.

Living in Asia has really little to do with it. My missus is Japanese, The Japanese channel is constantly on in my house, The football is shown, weekly here. As the EPL would be in Scotland. I also enjoy watching the J league and take a keen interest.

His ability - Natural decline is part and parcel of becoming a football player. And in terms of past his peak for Celtic, which is what I thought we were discussing, not world cups, or anything like that. His fitness and general ability is still extremely high.

I do not want an apology if he joins. I would suggest just support the lad as he would be coming back to give Celtic the best of his ability.

Put it this way, I think we need some form of experience, even if its just playing a bit part in the SPL and helping out with the development of the young lads. I would much rather it came from a player who is playing at his level, who is proven already in the SPL, rather than a Zenden, Kapo or Freddie.

Lets not forget, people said the same about Larsson before he won an EPL medal or a champions league medal.

He has not deteriorated almost nearly as much as people on here are claiming. I highly doubt there is anyone on this site that has watched him play a full 90 minutes since he left Celtic. In fact, I'd be willing to put money on it. I don't even think you can get Japanese football in the UK.

People are making a big deal over the fact he is 34. So what? He hasn't suffered any major injuries in his career (certainly never at Celtic anyway), so I don't see why some folk are getting their panties in a twist over his age. He would still be able to cope with the SPL and maybe even get a few cameos in Europe again before he retires.

He retired after the World Cup mate. The Nakamura of 2006 would have started each game for Japan in South Africa IMO. The times he did come as sub he was anonymous.

There are still no quotes from Celtic confirming any sort of interest. It's an agent discussing potential moves for his client, happens all the time.

I said he was 'past his best' which is a reasonable statement to make, and you jumped on it as if I called him a dud. He's 34, of course he's going to be past his peak.

I hate discussing possible moves for players when there's no sign that he's joining us. If Celtic declare their interest then I'll start to think about his place in the team. I'm not a fan of former players returning though, especially not one at 34 who is going to decline even further. I don't think we need him.
