Agree with Joe on this one, Naka wasnt very good yesterday and more to the point hasnt been this world cup.. Agreed Naka is the best player in the Celtic squad however I think that this WC demonstrates that he cant hack it against the best.

I have always said Naka has great technique, but he isn't a great player. All the people here who claim he is don't really offer any basis for their argument, for example, since he signed, the only decent teams he has encountered were Hearts and Rangers, and now Brazil, Croatia and Australia, in these games he has failed to impress me. It is not the Killies of the world that we should judge our players against.

Celtic players have not impressed in the WC. On the other hand we shouldn't judge players on a couple of games.

But Naka has to get more physical.

    Why?
Lennon and Petrov must get more creative

Take their performances into context the teams they play for coupled with the superior opposition they come up against.
Does Schevchenko look like the worlds top striker playing for Ukraine? I think not

Because once on the ball defenders look and try to knock you off it, especially in the SPL. This is important to hold on to the ball and maintain possession in the last third. The likes of Ronaldinho and Riquleme are very strong, Naka must aim to do the same.

I disgree, but we'll agree to disagree.

One thing we can agree is that he is very talented.:celt_2:

Naka is far from a weak player . he is a playmaker/ set piece specialist wich all good teams need. ... give him the ball pass /pass/ link up only downfall to his game is maybe a little lightweight... never wastes a Ball always looking to open defences with THE pass ... did u see him in the Japan Vs Croatia match .. standout . thats the Best ive seen him yet... top drawer.

yes he was bad in the world cup games ,why u think his team-mates hardly wanted to play ball to him.he gave away the ball alot and got brushed off ball so easily..was funny him tryin to tackle ronaldinho, like a fly beside ronaldinho

i wasnt reffering to the brazil game ... he was below par in that game as was most of the * side they were up against Brazil ffs. he was motm against Croatia tho. easily.

anyway Naka is never going to be a tackler so i wouldnt put him down to much on that point ... what he does bring ive already mentioned the guys a playmaker/Flair player ... he got craft and guile in spades... along with great set piece taker ...when games come up like the park is heavy going and its physicall by all means then he can be left out ... but in europe / games he is allowed to play/create he is a must.

he was a failure here in italy ,so a wouldnt hold much hope for CL.hes got talent but he seems like he always held it back.

guess best way is to say hes a player with potential that seems to go into his shell alot and so has never became wat he could of if he done more strenght work like ronaldinho and messi etc would of had to do to stick it out in europe and one that proved it could be done was nakata cause he was like nakamura but he strengthen on the flaw and now hes a gd all around playmaker

HA, please re-watch the Brazil game and count the mis-passes by Nakata and Nakamura. i think you'll find Nakata mis-placed more of his passes including two that went straight to the oppostion that resulted in direct attacks for Brazil. I don't know how you can even try to put down Nakamura by mentioning Nakata.

I seriously don't know how anyone can also say Japan were avoiding passing to Nakamura. That is just silly!

Nakamura is technically great, and excellent at set-pieces. But he is a luxury player who always shirks from a tackle and rarely gets stuck in. In the Champions League against the likes of Riquelme, I'm afraid he might get found out. Still like him though going forward.

Naka will excel in the CL as he will have more space to play his game. He is vital to our success both domestically and in Europe next season.

Thing is, Nakata was demanding the ball, trying to make things happen so as a result he at times gave poor balls, Naka was rarely involved. I'm no fan of Nakata tbh but at least he showed desire and courage.

Football is stll a contact sport, is it not? I have never seen a game won by a team that does not make challenges.
