  1. Can't say I've seen him a lot this season but he seemed to have a bigger impact for DU last season.

I've not seen him play much but do we think he'd get a game or would we possibly just ruin him? I'd rather he had another season to develop then make that decision

I'm not sure about Ciftci, I like him and think he'd be a good squad signing just don't know how big an impact in the first team he'd have.

  3. I think he's certainly the best lone striker in Scotland, excellent link up play, can hold the ball up well, is quite quick and has an eye for goal.

The only question is his attitude because the guy is a *.

Yeah i was kinda interested to read yesterday that his brother Harry was at Celtic before, was offered a place at the academy, but chose United instead.

6ft 6 and 16 years old, been called up to play for Scotland under 17's and available on a free like so many players in Scotland this Summer.

Glad we're going down this road as we can unearth some talent, develop it and drastically reduce the amount we spend on wages.

There are so many reasons to do this and it's what i've been banging on about for the last two years.

Finally it's beginning to happen, with the Scottish guys proving against Inter they could cause teams with massive budgets a lot of problems.

So it's always gonna depend on who we get in the group as to who can get goals.

In the qualifiers i'd expect Ciftci to get a few goals and that's the number one priority.

So as much as I've maybe been a bit not sure about the hype about John Souttar, i believe the low cost really does out shine any concerns about him only playing a few games this season.

I'd rather have players like this than guys who want to pick up the money and offer very little in return.

  5. Agreed. John Souttar and Ciftci would be a real smash and grab for us.
Anybody know what position Souttar's wee brother plays ?

  6. Aye Paul, 6ft 6 and still growing according to Jackie Mac. I agree man, sign them both.
It's gonna be a good window for us.

  7. better than guidetti.

We should just make a link with Dundee Utd and give them a good few of our exciting prospects so they get game time and then get them back when they're ready!

And here's me at a whopping 5ft 4... i suppose i could just run under the guy!
    :fear: :56:

  10. Centre half.

  11. McGeouch? Sorry but no thanks, saw him playing for Hibs and he was dire tbh.

McGregor looks like a player, comfortable on the ball etc.

To be honest at 21 and 22 those two players should have made the breakthrough by now, it's teenagers that are getting blooded at Tannadice at the moment.

  12. That last point sums up what many of us are saying. We don't give our teenager's much of a chance because of the high demands here, you do. Hypothetical now but if mcgeough and McGregor were playing regularly for united, as teens, there development would be far more enhanced than what it probably is now. Mcgeough was an incredible talent at one stage, watch highlights of him, albeit in a friendly, against real Madrid. That game he received a broken jaw, was out for months and never really recovered and his development was really mishandled by our previous coaching staff..

  13. Plays 3 different positions why shouldn't we take a punt on him

When he plays on the left he reminds me of sammy

  14. While were there lets grab Muirhead and their keeper as back up. * it. Lets just buy that club, make it our youth academy.

    Aye....rrrrright :87:

  15. According to the headline in the Hun today the board of Dundee Utd have agreed not to sell is any of their players so can we expect a deal to be announced and a "we couldn't lose them for nothing" line coming from Thompson! I know if we got offered say £8m for Virgil and he only had a year left with no intention of signing a new contract a would take the cash and build again got to laugh though their fans moan about us taking their players how do Queen's Park feel!

  16. To be fair if I was them, I really wouldn't want to sell Ciftci to us either. They would want to either keep him or sell him on elsewhere.

I think they would even accept a lower offer rather than giving him to us so we need to pay a bit more than the going rate and hope the player comes out and says he wants to move to us.

  17. What is the going rate for a Dundee Utd player with a year left on his deal?

Johnny Russell went to Derby for £700k

Soutar only has a contract to January 2016 do you sign him on a pre contract then and offer them a nominal fee like we did with GMS?

I believe you could get both for less that £1.5m or just wait and get both under a Bosman but need to pay training compo as both 23 or under.

  18. Souttar on a pre-contract is not such a bad option, so he can be a few hundred grand. Max - 500k to get it done quicker, i'd be surprised if we even went that high.

Ciftci can command a higher fee. If we bid £1million it's enough to turn the players head.

Then if they don't take it they don't make it.

It would come down to teams in the Championship offering up more, which is unlikely but not unthinkable.

My guess is if Ronny decides we're all in on Ciftci the deal will happen. I'd imagine Ciftci would want it to happen.

Then again we will have others on the radar but the big question is about moving players on and there must be a decent swap deal that United would absolutely jump at.

Doesn't happen very often these days, but with Boerrigter, Pukki and Balde probably on good money there is potential to build up a good working relationship with United, regardless of what they have to put in the press to ensure some season tickets get sold.

We should have bought Russell, anytime I see him play for Derby he looks good, and * me does he put a shift in aswell
