Wigan can't match us with wages the championship is relatively poor. Their TV contract was lowered. The EPL is another thing though.

I think Ciftci is a better option than both griffiths and scelpabitch. Not miles better but still an improvement so i wouldn't be totally against him signing.

It's wages that have * us up theses days! The like of Podolski just away to Galatasaray for just over £2mil. A few years back we would have realistic chance of signing him.

Even * Players get a decent wage these days!

That's why we should be exploiting markets where the average wage is low and the quality is high.

The SPL average wage for a player in 2014 was £3,515. in Croatia it was £875. Colombia £2,500, Chile £1,036.

I don't understand why we don't have a huge presence in these kind of countries picking up Carlos Bacca's before they make the move to the likes of Brugge.

It's the perfect system for the market we're in, and the work permit thing is barely an issue.

How's the work permit not an issue? I assume that's the issue that stops us.

as long as we can successfully argue that the player would be a benefit to scottish football we should get the work permit.

I always thought that too but someone on here a while back said it's not an issue in Scotland because of the standard of football, so long as you can say without doubt you don't think you could sign a Scottish player with similar abilities.

Said to be putting in a 3rd bid for ciftci, 1.3m maybe? I think he's worth that but I'm quite disappointed that we could have put another 1m on top of that and landed vossen, we have 2m extra from the Matthews sale now also

Forget Vossen that was never going anywhere.
Ciftci looks the real deal and he is dying to play for us.

    :smiley-laughing002: does he.

Is Vossen not the real deal then? He also seemed to be quite keen to play for us.

That's a lot of money for Dundee Utd who really need the money to bring in a lot of players which have already gone. Ciftci get to play in a big club and play champions league football.

Its the Dundee utd fans crying thats delaying this going through. Utd to scared of backlash.

Don't get this backlash *, the united fans were * because we took their best players before they played us in the cup. They've sold every half decent player they had as soon as they show any promising form. They're just being *.
