    This

wouldnt be the first player with bad reputation we have signed. I am sure I have read before that he is well liked by his fellow players at utd and outwith the on field rages doesnt have any problems with his team mates.

If we can mature scott brown we can do it for anybody.

It then comes down to whether he has the quality to be our main striker. He isnt the most clinical striker but he would easily become our most technically gifted striker. His touch, hold up play and ability to get past a defender is impressive.

Also hes still young and can develop under top coaches and top professionals around him.

Its going to happen and I think he may well just suprise a lot of our funs who understandably dont want him.

I wouldn't trust him at all in a European game, I really wouldn't. as for the Old Firm game I wouldn't worry about, time machines haven't been invented yet so we're fine

I still think they could both do a job for us in Europe. But aye I agree, ciftci has something about him that makes me think he would do well for us

Weirdly so have I, when I first heard this I was in complete denial, and I've been really really against it up until now.

At first I thought he'd be a no bad signing

But at this moment in time I don't think we should spend that much on him. Not going to improve oue squad and tbh I wouldn't pay anymore than 500k

If the scouting department is so thorough as Peter Houston says it is, yet Ciftci is the best option they've seen :help:

He isn't slow at all, I don't know how you have that impression. He has good pace for a man of his size. He's also got good strength so he is a powerful runner. Even if people get shoulder to shoulder with him, they still have a job getting him off the ball.

It seems people are slowing coming round to the idea of this signing :icon_mrgreen:

I think Griffiths is better and I want an improvement on Griffiths. No point buying a striker just for the sake of it. Unless the incoming player improves the first 11 I don't see the point. I am only talking about the striking position just to clarify.

He's not slow but he's certainly not fast. He can score goals but not enough of them. He's decent at link up but not brilliant. He's got a trick or 2 but he doesn't have exceptional technique. Disregard the fact he's a *, that doesn't come it.

He'd literally be a 'meh' signing, even if there is scope for improvement is that good enough to fire us into the Champions League where we NEED to be? Not for me.

What I think he is very good at is holding the ball up and using his body to shield it until he can bring others into play. I think that's the biggest reason we're going for him. Add in that he also has a lot of variety to his play, happy going in behind, running the channels or sitting occupying the centre backs.

The exact type of striker that we need just now, it's just yet to be seen if he had the ability to do it at a higher level. I think he will be, he gave Van Dijk a lot of hassle and that's usually the type Van Dijk enjoys playing against.

Think he would certainly do a job for us. Guess we'd have to get over the bite incident though... would be decent if he promised there would be no more unsavory incidents.

He may not necessarily be a better player than Griffiths, however I think that he definitely suits our style better than Griffiths and would improve our play.

This is how I see it. I'm excited by it because I don't think we've had a striker of his type for a long time now and I think it would lift our performance as a team.

Huh? We never "stole" them at all - Thompson accepted the bids from us.

Yes at a steal and were sold against the wishes of almost every United fan, something they don't want to be seen doing again, so they are playing hard ball.

Really???? considering a percentage went into McNamaras back pockets along with the rest of his coaching team.

Ciftci has very good close control, is very comfortable with his back to goal, is comfortable running into channels and playing on the shoulder, is quite quick but not rapid, strong, skillful and quite clinical.

After having a read of the United forums, the general consensus seems to be that they'd bite anyone's hand off for £1m but ours. The feeling they have is that he's their best player, but he's unreliable and a total maniac. £1m would be good business considering he has a year left on his contract.

Id be excited to get him in and under Ronnys wing.

Not our problem who they gave the money to. We had one of them already on a pre-contract and gave them money for him and the other was a fair price.
