Might as well have just swapped teams with Utd last summer if GMS, Armstrong, Gauld, Robertson, Ciftci and Souttar are good enough for our first team:smiley-laughing002:

I'd take a punt with Ciftci.

Just to make it clear that I am not by any means complimenting Guidetti or Pukki and rather the opposite. Nevertheless, Ciftci will be exactly the same time of player, a 2-3 million pound striker no better than the ones we currently have.

I went along to the dundee utd st johnstone game yeaterday. Ciftci was man of the match. he was very unlucky not to score, but utd were being pressed hard through out. However when ciftci was on the ball he broke down there defence time and again.

He takes on 2 to 3 players and gets past them. Almost a johansen type player. He is definetly more skilfull than Guidetti or Leigh Griffiths.

With our team backin him he will score more and set more up.

What we don't want is him going to a stronger team like hearts, aberdeen or dare i say it.... the huns if they go up!

He doesn't have more potential than Guidetti. If he could sort himself out he'd be the better player.

    I disagree.

He looks like he could be improved slightly but folk are going over the top with the compliments regarding him.

I like that we are looking to pick up more players direct from Scotland but it doesn't mean we need to sign every single * that shows a bit of promise. People have gone from never suggesting/wanting SPL players on here to wanting every single one that looks decent :smiley-laughing002:

Buying from abroad/Englandshire has still served us well..more risky aye but every now and then well worth the reward.

Ciftci is a much better player than Pukki. I don't care about Pukki's career history. He hasn't cut it anywhere.

Ciftci has potential and I hope we go for him. Completely different player than what we have in front currently.

23 years old big physical striker , good finisher , skilful , good hold up , great passer , good link up and is comfortable in the environment of the SPL. A no brainer surely? we would be stupid not to want one of them.

Very rarely have we had the chance of a striker so young with great potential and its hard to believe how some cant see the pros here.

It baffles me why some think we shouldn't buy the best from our own league if they are good enough as every big team from every other league does the same in their own environment. I don't want another Puuki or Balde when we can have someone that most know will do major damage in our team.

Seems like a few teams are having a look at Ciftci. Depends on United risking a backlash from their own fans, when they need to sell season tickets. But my guess is he'd rather play Champions' League football than go play in Rotherham.

Can't see this happening until his contract runs down. United fans are in revolt over the sale of GMS and Armstrong to us in January. United will have to be very strong in terms of a transfer fee, particularly to us.

How 'squealing' Nadir Ciftci cost Dundee United the three points against St Johnstone

He has a history of play actiing

“I thought I was a spot-kick but when it comes to Nadir it’s a hard one. It was just the noise he made to try and convince the referee.

“You couldn’t describe it in a newspaper. It’s a squeal, that’s probably why he didn’t get it. That’s his nature and that’s what he’s been brought up with. In his country that’s fine.

He is nowhere near good enough for us, I'd even rather Scepovic or Pukki leading the line in the qualifiers than this joker. And I don't rate the pair of them either.

Unknown quantity is our scepovic. Can't be great as he never gets a game.

Pukki is poor. Pish poor. Ciftci has established himself as one of the best strikers in the league. Pukki will never be.

Not every striker we bring in from abroad will be a Pukki or Balde. If we have that attitude we'd be as well never buying outwith Scotland again.

I don't see the big clammer over Cifcti that is all, the fact Rotherham are one of few teams chasing him sums it up for me personally. He'd add something different to the squad, but I only see him as a squad player. Him, Griffiths and another striker making up our front 3 rotation.
