Im surprised some people are SO against Mowbray.

Maybe some people resent him because they think the fans who do want him only want him because he played here?

Its not the case for me. Look back at Hairytoes post. Has all the qualities to be a good manager, we should give him the chance before another big club does.

Hopefully not Levein he's only proved that he's likely to bottle it at the business end

I doubt McGhee is even in the running now, he's sure fire to become Aberdeen manager imo.

Mowbray, Martinez and co I would all like, I wouldn't rule Bilic out totally though as I think he'll be interviewed.

Yeah, same with Martinez or Coyle though, if we get either one of these guys I actually think it shows a lot about our ambition, ie that we are willing to get the best young managers around as we now know that they all carry hefty compensation.

mowbray is an outstanding candidate and to be honest if we got martinez i wouldnt complain either because his football philosophy seems to suit ours and he has tremendous potential

people have said that going for these mangers reflect that the board have no ambition as we should be going for names like Guus Hiddink etc

On the other hand I feel that it shows we are ambitious as we are willing to take a risk to go for one fo the most up and coming managers who play attractive football, with the possibility of remaining at the club for a good number of years

</roottag><roottag> TONY MOWBRAY is on the brink of becoming the new Celtic boss - as it emerged West Brom are resigned to losing him.

Celtic stepped up their interest in former Hoops star Mogga, 45, after it became clear Roberto Martinez was bound for Wigan.
And while SunSport understands a holidaying Owen Coyle is still NOT out of the equation, Mowbray is now favourite for a Parkhead return -- 14 years after he left as a player.
SunSport also understands the Baggies are already identifying potential replacements when Mowbray ends his three-year spell at the Hawthorns.
He would bring with him No 2 Mark Venus and former Celtic idol Peter Grant. That would leave current Hoops first-team coach Neil Lennon wondering where he'd fit in.
Mowbray's favoured passing game and Celtic connection - allied to Grant's presence - makes him particularly appealing to Parkhead major shareholder Dermot Desmond, who is ready to sanction a £850,000 compensation package for the Baggies.
He's not given Desmond or Celts chief executive Peter Lawwell negative feedback about the job.
But deep down Mowbray has worries about the impact the intense Old Firm scrutiny would have on his family life, especially with his wife expecting their third child.
That could yet see ex-Hibs boss Mowbray walk away from the tantalising opportunity of heading back to Paradise.
But West Brom chief Jeremy Peace is stealing himself for a managerial search of his own, with Preston's Alan Irvine believed to be front-runner.
Intriguingly, Mowbray had earmarked Hibs and Scotland striker Steven Fletcher as a major summer signing to spark the Baggies' bid to return to the Premier League.
Taking the Celtic post would instead see him focus on making the £4million-rated ace his first major capture.
Burnley boss Coyle has yet to put pen to paper on a bumper contract extension, leaving his chairman Barry Kilby sweating.
SunSport understands the boyhood Celtic fan HASN'T ruled out returning north and turning his back on the chance to manage in the Premier League.
But he remains to be convinced of the Hoops' ambition, both in his personal package and transfer budget.
Coyle is also due a substantial six-figure bonus for getting the Clarets promoted, and that's a huge consideration for him.

All that has now put him behind Mowbray in Celtic's thinking - with the pressure on for Gordon Strachan's replacement to be appointed soon, just seven weeks before a crucial Champ-ions League qualifier.
Meanwhile, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is jubilant at having beaten Celtic to the highly-rated Spaniard Martinez.
He said: "Hopefully, the deal will be concluded by Friday morning."

Would be a shame to see Neil go, but the manager takes priority.

I am sure he would fit in though.

Good manager, would be confident he could handle the pressure and big headed players.

Did Lennon not say that he was told by Peter Lawwell that his future at Celtic was safe?

Somthing not right with that peace from the Sun, think if Lennon was going he would have went with Pendrey, Clarke and the goalkeeper coach.

Yeh, I hope he gets to stay.

Howevery you can't justify getting a manager to come to Celtic and demanding that Lennon is his number 2, they need whoever makes them do the job to thier best ability.

Hope so aswell mate, Neil is Celtic through and through, i think he will. The sun saying thAT Mowbray is on the brink but not ruling Coyle out, what the * is that ment to mean? How can someone be on the brink but they are not ruling Coyle out lol.

All they are doing is making sure they cover ther backs, cause i think now its a 2 horse race between Mowbray and Coyle.
