The media are also the only outlet were some fans get access to what their manager is doing or trying to do from his own words. I just think the way WGS treated the media alienated him a bit because as fans we wanted answers to the questions that were being asked,( i dont think the questions were all as stupid as he made them out) and in the end its the fans who suffered and not the media.

I'm hoping Mark Venus comes with him as assistant manager, he seems to work well with him.

No too pleased if is Mowbray, but maybe I'll warm to him if he gets results.
I definitely won't be slagging him at every opportunity as some did with Strachan. He'll be the Celtic manager and he'll get 100% backing from me.
I still think that it's paper talk that he's deffo joining us.

good luck to the big man if true.think he will improve the team we have with his style of play.dont think the board will give him much money for new players so imo think we will see more of the fringe and reserves coming thru this season, with what he done at hibs we could see a few of them prove their potential.

Spot on!!! I didn't think we'd offered anyone the job before now. If Mowbray is the new manager then I only hope ALL the fans get behind him from day 1.

I think we're going to see some cracking footbal next season.

I'm delighted tbh. Mogga is a gentleman, a man who knows what our Club mean to each and everyone of us. His teams play great football. And he has improved and met every challenge since stepping into the dugout.

I live in Birmingham and I know quite a few Albion fans. They all have said to me, that if their Chairman had supported the big man they would have stayed up but despite their relegation it's been a pleasure to attend the Hawthorns. He was given no money but kept Albion in the mix till penultimate week of the season. And lets not forget the achieve of getting promoted from the Championship. It's a tough, tough league.

At Hibs, he turned relegation fodder into the most entertaining team in the SPL. Bought thought young players of top quality. Lets not foget he has worked before with our best two performers, Broonnie and Caldenbaur, and turned them in multi-million pound players. Can you imagine what he could do for Aiden and wee Shaun?

And as for the quality of the man here he is in his own words:

"Glasgow Celtic was a Club that I did not know a lot about when I was told that Liam Brady had been in touch with Middlesbrough about acquiring my services in 1991. I knew that they were a big Club with an illustrious history; the first British team to win the European Cup, and to achieve the amazing feat of winning nine championships in a row.
When I was an apprentice professional footballer at Middlesbrough in the 1980, my youth team coach would eulogise about Celtic and the great players who had played for the Club. The coach in question was indeed one of the very best ex -Celts; his name Bobby Murdoch.
By the time I left Celtic on 1995, the Club and more importantly the supporters, had left an indelible mark in my heart, which will never leave me.
I feel honoured to have played in "the hoops" and to have given my all for the Club at very difficult period in the Clubs history. It was a volatile time in the East end of Glasgow what with the "sack the board" campaign and the domination of the field of the team from across the city. It was a time of change at Celtic, but what stood firm throughout all of my time at the Club was the belief the supporters had that good times were just around the corner and that the Celts would be "singing in the sun" before too long. Their support of the team on the field was total and the players strived to reward the fans with performances that made you feel as if you were part of a huge family unit - and that feeling of being as one with the supporters could not of been highlighted more than when I was to lose my wife to cancer on new years day 1995. At a time when my life was decimated, and I was as low as any human being can get, the love and warmth I will never forget. Words of support poured in from Celtic folk, from all over the world and at a time when my life was empty, they helped fill that void with their compassion.
So as I said earlier, Celtic will always be 'my club' and I feel very humble that I played alongside
such great Celts as McStay, Nicholas. Collins, Grant, Bonner and many more, but most importantly that I know whenever I pulled on the Jersey, I gave my all because I knew what it meant to the supporter on the terraces, to be proud to be a Celt.

    Take care and * Bless,
Tony Mowbray Hail, Hail FIRST TEAM COACH [Ipswich Town]"

    It looks pretty official now.
If this is the new manager, lets get behind him and take the title back in style.

Not a step backwards, but not exactly a step forward.

More of the same I believe.

Celtic will announce West Brom's Tony Mowbray as their new manager, subject to compensation being agreed with the English side, BBC Sport has learned.
A package of around £1m would seal the former Celtic defender's switch.

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | C | Celtic | Mowbray close to Celtic agreement

I'm pretty happy with the choice, out of the 5 favourites that were linked with the club he was my first choice.
