Think it wasn’t @Vertie who posted quotes from Rodgers earlier when Dembele signed that we’d sell him after two years of service.

If they wanted him they should have let us know 2 weeks ago.

 

As i said earlier we clearly don't care enough about selling unhappy players ala the boyata situation. It's a risky move and we should spend time scouting a replacement for him for the next 6 months, will be a monumental player to replace.

How is it Lyon’s fault? They sold their star striker yesterday but actually had several targets lined up to replace him.

They're acting like every club should.

 

BR himself said when he first came in, he didn't see how he'd fit in 2 strikers and whether it'd be required, and he's had to change that to 3 now...then again, he's chop and changed his tactics a bit and gone from 1 upfront as he did at Liverpool and first season here to a 3-5-2, meaning 3 strikers is minimum...we really need 4. So unless he plans on pushing Aitchison, I don't know how he hasn't been ruminating over a new one coming in or keeping one or two on his radar, especially with 2/3 being injury prone.

 

Their own fault they included a clause so they could be robbed at the death of the window.

 

Just sell him, no point in keeping him if he doesn't want to be here.

 

This is something that we should put in every contract, never understood why we don't.

All Spanish clubs have to do it, but they just tell buying clubs pay the release clause or the player stays.

For dembele £25/30 mil and we can't turn it down. If boyata signs a new deal £15mil and so on. They don't have to be ridiculously over the players value just a bit so the English clubs just pay it or show they dont want the player that badly.

I tell you where it'd work...FM Someone at the club needs to start playing it. I'd find you a new striker as a replacement quick sharp....

 

If this was earlier in the window I'm sure he would be been allowed to leave but thankfully the board seem to have more sense than we thought and won't let him leave at this stage, he signed the contract at the end of the day so he should worry more about honouring his own word. No player is bigger than the club.

Absolutely every single person expected Dembele to be here for 2 years max and knew Boyata would want to leave apart from Rodgers.

Honestly, Why would BR want to punt him without being able get a replacement in..

 

The question that should be getting asked is why weren’t we actually scouting possible replacements for when someone inevitably comes in with a ridiculous bid.

 

my reading is the same as others i guess, its a repeat of the boyata carryon

we've said we would let them go if an offer comes in and then when a good offer comes in we are reneging on deal

in saying that at the weekend i noticed the 3 amigos were together and way back from the rest of the squad when doing the lap of honor after the game and it just so happened the 3 of them have had bids on for them, the been tapped up or are engineering an escape route

dont know what money they are on but i reckon we all know and they know that they could get more else where

you goto to think we knew these guys would be wanting to get off sooner than later and we would need to refresh every 2 to 3 years as they become older and get noticed by the big leagues, just the way it is and all the power is with teh players these days so if they want away they get away or youve a depreciating asset and unhappy one at that

But seriously it works in Spain, I know huge difference in quality etc but have thought for a while it's something we should do. Win win for both, we get a higher value, the player gets his move. Main issue, based on our recent planning, would be not having backup targets, or targets for every position in case someone is sold.

 

I'ts Lyon's fault if they think we'll accept a deal without having a replacement lined up. I wonder whether we actually gave em permission to talk to the player or if they've been doing some dodgy activity that needs reporting to UEFA...

Moussa signed a new deal just over a year ago and just the last game he was talking about this Sunday, which so happens to come after the transfer window closed, so he can STFU and get on with it, in my eyes....
