    They were my favourite Italian side when Serie A ruled the 90s.

    Remember being genuinely upset when Batistuta left for Roma.


    Giovanni Elber is another quality striker who you rarely hear mentioned these days.

    I don't think Batistuta and Del Piero are underrated at all. Plenty of people I speak to mention them amongst the best frequently.

    Players that are underrated in my opinion, in no particular order:

    Fernando Redondo
    Ruud Van Nistelrooy
    Garrincha
    Didi
    Gerson
    Paul Scholes
    Gaetano Scirea
    Marco Tardelli
    Daniel Passarella

    Hansen is the best shout ive seen so far. Most of the others were highly rated. Hansen couldnt get in the Scotland team because of * Miller and McLeish!!! He would have had 100 England caps he was so well thought of down south. 3 European Cups and 8 league titles.....and 26 Scotland caps! Guy strolled the game.

    And I don't think players like Busquets, Van Nistelrooy and Scholes are underrated at all either, it's swings and roundabouts.

    Who is Gaetano Scores?

    The 'Football's Greatest' programme about Garrincha is quality. Said he just used to turn up to a game without even knowing who they were playing and just boss it. I'm pretty sure they said Brazilians considered him more naturally gifted than Pele.

    He is a number 10 but flopped at Barca. Absolutely unbelievable vision.

    Behind Messi, Iniesta and Ronaldinho he may be my favourite ever player to watch.

    Two personal favourites of mine are Aritz Aduriz and Fernando Llorente, I know they are both Bilbao strikers, but on their day they were and still are a handful for any defence, I always thought Llorente should have went to Barca to give them that plan b, and Aduriz is criminally underrated for me.

    Just Fontaine - scarily prolific, not really given the credit he deserves outside of France

    Sándor Kocsis, József Bozsik - phenomenal in attack and midfield respectively, don't deserve to be overshadowed by Puskas and Hidegkuti but that's the way it goes.

    Marcel Desailly - amazing defender in his own right but more attention seems to go to his team mates: Baresi, Thuram, etc.

    Dejan Savićević - the forgotten man of the great Berlusconi-Capello Milan.

    Giuseppe Meazza - Arguably the greatest Italian player of all time but played in the pre-television era so doesn't get his dues, despite being the cornerstone of two World Cup triumphs.

    Didi - Brazil's greatest central midfielder but barely known among non-students of the game.

    Luis Suarez - Essentially the only global great produced by Spain in the 20th century, bar perhaps Gento. Has the misfortune of having a less successful yet higher profile namesake kicking about these days.

    John Charles - Real trail blazer of a player, get the feeling more would be made of him were he English.

    David Villa - Bit of a stretch perhaps but he was lethal for a period, people seem to forget he helped Atleti break the Barca/Real duopoly (albeit playing second fiddle to Diego Costa).
