Starfelt is simultaneously overrated and underrated for me there wasn’t a lot of level headedness about him:56:

I think those that rate him highly (myself included) are still aware of his flaws. For me he's comfortably in the top 5 or 6 centre backs we've had in the past decade though.

Aw aye easily, CCV, Van Dijk, Denayer nailed on top 3 then can argue for whoever else is in there.

For me the reason he splits opinion that much is his biggest strength in positioning and covering in behind, he is on the cusp of world class at those specific attributes, but his weaknesses can be very obvious and nervewracking, and usually folk would focus on one or the other.

I thought more than anything he was crucial to Ange’s system and done a lot of work that went ignored off the ball for us to work the system as well as we did,

I know he's not a player, but if we allow anyone who can appear on the team photo, IMHO it has to be Brendan Rodgers on the evidence of some of the posts in here. I'm really surprised by how he is seen this time round.

Thought Lambert, Valgearen, Hartley , Naylor, Commons where all under rated.

I'd go top 5 for every position who played for Strachan to now

GK: Forster, Boruc, Hart, Gordon, Bain
RB: Johnston, Juranovic, Lustig, Frimpong, Hinkel
RCB: CCV, Denayer, Ajer, Jullien, Caldwell
LCB: Van Dijk, Starfelt, Boyata, K.Wilson, Mulgrew
    LB: Tierney, Izaguirre, Taylor, M.Wilson
DM: Wanyama, Brown, Ledley, Kayal, Lennon
CM: Petrov, Hatate, McGregor, O'Riley, Ki
AM: Rogic, Christie, Armstrong, Mooy, Turnbull
RM: Nakamura, Commons, Forrest, Abada, Roberts
LM: Jota, Sinclair, Samaras, McGeady, Maloney
ST: Kyogo, Dembele, Edouard, Hooper, Keane

Left-back is shocking, can only think of Mo Camara, Danny Fox, Bernabei, Bolingoli and Naylor but wouldn't pick any of them. Wouldn't even pick a 5th guy

Only counted their performances under Strachan onward also with Lennon being 5th, put him ahead of Hartley and Robson who are the only real defensive midfielders I can think of, Ledley wasn't even really one but I would have played him there before other guys and he was more defensive than McGregor.

Put McGeady over Maloney as he was better for longer but Maloney's best season was probably the best.

Attacking midfield I can't think of any others except Gravensen or Jarosik really. At the back i'd probably go for Caldwell and Mulgrew over Ambrose and McManus who are probably the next choice.

Keepers as well are shocking after Hart and Gordon but went for Bain over Zaluska, De Vries, Brown.

Think Stefan Johanssen would get a spot in there, bit moody though.

Watching old games back, I have to say Ntcham. Had a lot of good games against the scum, in cup finals, in Europe.

The only good European performance I remember from him was Anderlecht away and 15 minutes in Lazio, he was awful in most other games.

Thought he was one of the worst Celtic players I've seen and that's going back to the mid 70s. Did nothing particularly well - didn't tackle, didn't put in effort to close down, didn't score or assist enough, didn't beat players, frequently caught in possession as he was slow, for every good pass he played he played another one straight out the park, went missing in games. I watched him closely as I couldn't stand him and he was like playing with a man down most of the time. He made a couple of contributions - goal against the huns and Lazio but he got away with murder on the back of that.
I'd say he's one of the most overrated ever Celtic players.

He was class mate I used to rave about him. One of his first games for us was against the huns and he played class. His range of passing was top notch.

Attitude-wise though, I think you’re probably giving him too much credit. He was a moany * and very inconsistent. there’s a reason most of us were happy to finally see the back of him. There’s a reason he’s in a relegation scrap in Turkey. Ability wise he could easily be playing in the prem. No problem. So there’s definitely something off with his mentality. He got progressively less effective year by year here.

These days anyone who comes out of the city academy has serious technical talent

An absolutely mental take. He was a great signing and had a lot of technical quality. A far better player than a lot of the dross we’ve had at centre mid in that time.

Don’t really care about a player being moany. Cristiano is a moany *.

I know he had poor games and had a bit of inconsistency at times but I’m not sure it was always down to him seemingly always having a poor attitude. Maybe a bit of a money grabber but for us he was a quality player and that’s all I care about.
