Actually I've noticed in the last 10 years or so that's something that has been changed in Scotland. It's the reason Gary Caldwell has amassed 55 caps for Scotland.

Aye, but someone like McManus was often alongside him a lot of the time. Look at the adulation Bobo received while he was with us. Not that I don't like that style of defending, I'm all for it as long as there's some caution there as well.

I have never liked him and used to always slag him when he played for Liverpool (when people thought he was good). I always pointed out how bad his touch was and how he always lost the ball outside the box or ran like a drunk girraffe into dead ends and stumbled over the ball all the time. People always over looked it though as he was scoring prolificly.

Yeah, I can see what you mean by this, he's only ever had one sensational season too, that was 07-08

08-09, he was only Liverpools second highest scorer behind Gerrard.

09-10 struggled, decent figures but nothing like Rooney, Tevez or Drogba that same season, even Defoe and Bent showed him up.

10-11 the beginning of his downfall, very few goals for Liverpool and the one in his first few months for Chelsea.

11-12 bizarre season, as he ended up being top scorer in the Euro's and scored a winner in the CL vs Barcelona. However still very poor, he had like 2 goals in the first few months of the season, then got a flurry between March and May which brought the numbers up a bit.

12-13, better than his previous two definitely, however most came in the Europa League while his League form was appalling apart from his first few games where he got 5 goals in like 4 games or something like that.

His link-up play is terrible and always has been, its always why ive never liked him. Same as I dont like Defoe or Hernandez or Darren Bent. I dont like those types who score goals but do little else. When im watching teams I like to see good movement and link-up play and decent football being played. If Liverpool had Drogba or Rooney up front back when they had Torres theyd have scored for fun too due to the play of Mascherano, Alonso and Gerrard and workhorse Kuyt doing a lot of work and setting up.

Yes, apparently he`s now a centre-forward. Oxlade-Chamberlin is a better more complete player than Walcott.

Misnomer, it wasn't a 'winner' per se.

Ironically enough his link-up play has improved immesurably ever since he forgot how to be a number 9, he'd be an ideal attacking mid if he could actually retain the ball.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is laughibly overrated, as is Raheem Sterling.

Ah yes Chelsea would have been going through if the scores stayed the same minus that Torres goal, it was the clincher though :50: Barcelona still had 3 minutes of added time to get a goal and you never know.

As for Torres being an ideal attacking mid, would be true if he remembered how to control a football and got his pace back.

Ah.... I sort of agree and disagree at the same time. Because he had unbelievable ability in his late teens and early 20's. When he was at Arsenal he looked unbelievable as an 18/19 year old starting week in week out along with Bergkamp, his pace and finishing were frightening.

His move to Real didn't work out, PSG he was decent however his career became flat until Bolton revitalised him before moving to Chelsea.

I'm not sure if overrated is the word, he's just never fulfilled his huge potential and he's possibly only rated quite highly by some because of the potential he had.

Neymar. He has the potential to be a great player, but for the past 2 years people have talked about him as if he's already better than Maradona, which is just a ridiculous belief.

I quite like Chamberlain, I dont think hes great or anything but he is a decent footballer with good pace and workrate. Agree about Sterling though, im not a big fan of him but he is young, think hes still only 18 so may improve.

James Forrest could muscle him off the ball so it's a bit of a dead end, just throwing it out there to try and redeem him somewhat.

I had a sense of foreboding about the deal from the start; for a good month or so I clung to the notion that he would come good, that it would take time for him to adapt, but it soon became apparent that he was finished.

Thank heavens Lukaku is on the scene.

Chamberlain falls into the decent but thought to be great category for me, whereas Sterling falls into the mediocre but thought to be great category.

Both are overrated, albeit to a different degree.

Aye a lot of English fans or fans of their teams probably think they are worth £15-20million when in reality they are no better than James Forrest.

He is over-hyped; he is not over-rated. :icon_mrgreen:
