    Big praise from Marc Rieper

MORTEN RASMUSSEN was 14 when he trained with Celtic as a treat.

Ten years on and Marc Rieper says that's what his old club are in for if the young striker joins the Hoops.
Rasmussen stood wide eyed in the shadows of Parkhead as a kid who could only dream of a career in the Hoops.
Now that's the reality facing the Brondby star with a £1.8million deal last night on the verge of going through.
Rasmussen is the Danish Superliga's answer to former Rangers hitman Duncan Ferguson.
Rieper has known the 24-year-old hitman since he was an unknown starlet emerging through the ranks at Aarhus.
And he insists he's more like John Hartson.
The former Hoops stopper said: "When I was coach at my club Aarhus we made a trip to Glasgow to visit Celtic.
"We selected four or five youth players to travel to Scotland and Morten was one of them.
"They were boys who had been doing well at our club and we wanted to give them a treat.
"It was also an opportunity for them to see how things operated at a big, professional club outside Denmark.
"It was ten years ago, but I remember it well.
"Morten's eyes widened when we arrived at Celtic Park for the first time. All the boys were so impressed with the club.
"Any young lad who visits a club like Celtic must go away thinking it's amazing.
"We stayed for five days and the boys trained with the youth team under the supervision of their coaches.
"We actually took Mikey Doyle and Liam Miller back with us to Aarhus and they stayed with us for a year.
"But it's funny how things are now working out.
"It's ten years on from that trip and I hear Celtic are preparing to spend around two million euros to sign Morten.
"They could have got him for 200 euros back in 2000!
"But he was a good young player even then and we knew he was going to go on to bigger things."
Rasmussen is known as Duncan throughout Danish football.
It was the name given to him as a kid because of the amount of headers he scored at youth-team level - with his coaches branding him the new Ferguson. The comparison with the ex-Rangers hitman is hardly what Celtic supporters will want to hear.
But Rieper says Hoops fans shouldn't worry - insisting Rasmussen is actually more like big, bad John.
He added: "Duncan is the name he's had for a few years now.

"When he was younger he scored a lot of goals with his head so that's where that comparison came from.
"But for me he's more like Chris Sutton or John Hartson.
"Those are the players I'd compare him to. Like Hartson he is strong and physical. He is good in the air and makes life difficult for defenders who play against him. He is a proper targetman who scores a lot of goals.
"I think he will fit in very very well in Glasgow - he is well suited to Scottish football in my opinion."
Rasmussen is the real deal as a centre-forward.
You just need to browse through the internet to see the quality of his goals.
But the hitman has also had his troubles as a kid who struggled to live up to the expectations of him at a young age.
He also had an immature side which cost him half a season at Brondby. Rasmussen stupidly slid down on his knees on a waterlogged pitch after a match was called off because of torrential rain. The young striker damaged ligaments as a result and missed four months of football.
Rieper warned: "The only thing which could stand in his way is if he acts silly.
"He has had his ups and downs throughout the last year.
"There have been little things he's had to deal with which happens to young players.
"I'm just talking about little hiccups - but I think he's matured now and is more serious. Morten is a phenomenal talent and no one has ever disputed that. There has always been a lot expected of him even from when he was a young boy coming through at Aarhus.
"We all knew what he was capable of and he's now fulfilling that belief we had in him.
"He is a very honest lad and loves putting the ball in the net.
"He is also not the type of striker who needs a lot of chances to score a goal. If Celtic can get the ball into the box he'll be there, I have no doubts about that.
"Knowing how many chances Celtic create in the Scottish League, Morten is going to score a lot of goals - I am confident about that.
"He is still only 24 and not reached his peak yet. He is only going to get better."

Can't make my mind up if this guy is right for us, mostly based on our friend from Copenhagen reports on him.
I'm delighted though that we are actively pursuing striker options.
While our defence has been ropey for some time I still say our so called strikers have cost us more points in games we should have won but failed to do so.

Maybe he's the guy that could lead the line in a 3 pronged attack, as the target man/finisher?

I don't care what his technique is like, as long as he puts the ball in the net. Alan shearer's skill level was pish, but he is regarded as the best goal scorer england has produced over the last 20 or 30 years. He has more than 50 goals in around 100 games, that means if he gets the chance he will score. :50:

Is the deal done then or is it still not at the personal agreement stage yet?
