Im all for giving development players a shot, something I wanna see more of but Ralston was that player and he hasn't cut it so far. Coffey seems to be filling in at rb a good bit and hes as far as I'm concerned a mid.

If we'd not wasted our time on Toljan and played Ralston he'd have had the opportunity and we'd know for certain end of last season and would be in a much better position.

Patching the squad with sub-standard loans helps no one. Poor management all round.

As opposed to Toljan and now Moritz?

Ralston should have been given game time end of last season instead of Toljan as Lennon and Lawell knew their plan was to offload Lustig and Gamboa.

If we have development players we need to play them or get quality in. Low quality last minute loans is just a sign of mis-management.

My own opinion is the pressure to win the league/ qualify for Europe and to get the 10iar will limit the opportunities for development players to some degree. We aren't gonna put a connell/mcinroy/Coffey /Robertson in at mid for example and give him a free pass for the season. Those players are just off the top of my head. I think Ralston was injured last January when toljan came in.

Stoke fans think he will do well here because he will hardly ever have to defend.:55:

Before I had a chance to watch his interviews, I was frustrated by the "I'm not the most talented player" comment I was reading in a few, quickly skimmed articles -- not the kind of thing you want to hear from a new player just coming in and also in a role the club really needs to fill.

After hearing the full interviews, I'm definitely reserving judgement until he's had a good number of chances. Attitude really goes a long way. He genuinely looks excited to be here, seems to get the club, and appears hungry to earn a place and improve his game. Those qualities go a long way and are important considering how much we lost in that department with Mika's departure.

On a side note, I like the look of Elhamed, but he seems much more shy or just reserved, so I can appreciate getting in a guy like Bauer.

    Welcome to Paradise!!

El Hamed is the least shy guy on the pitch. Absolutely launches himself into every tackle.

He's gonna have to be good if he's to take this guy out of the team ( from what I've seen so far) .
Injuries may be El Hameds downfall ... however...we need a left back... desperately.

Him saying he isn't the most technical player is probably him just trying to be humble, which I would rather than cocky arrogant players who think their gods gift (Guidetti, Musonda etc).

You could also look at it from a different view and think maybe Toljan would've played better here if he was tied down on a long term deal and committed to the club. However he never really looked interested in being here in the first place, just tried to use as a quick stepping stone to get some game time and then make his next move. There was no option to buy him at the end of the season, he wouldn't have got a look at Dortmund even if he did do well with us, so I can see why it failed for him here. Luckily this guy seems out to prove something, and with an option to buy at the end of the season he surely has the right motivation to do well here. One good thing about Lennon is if the player isn't 100% committed they will be quickly shown the door.

Lennon is delighted to have landed Bauer, and admits a glowing reference came from old team-mate Paul Lambert, who was his boss for a spell at Stoke.
He said: “Paul was very complimentary. He had a lot of good things to say about Moritz.
“He has a good pedigree. He has lost his way a little bit at Stoke, so I am looking at his time at Rubin Kazan and his time with the international team where he looked a very good player........thats good enough for me................
