He doesn't look great but the list of teams after him makes it sound a bit more exciting. Although just read an article with him saying he wasn't coming to Glasgow today for a medical because he's playing with the Sierra Leone (sp?) national team.

Ah right fair enough. Well it would be nice to sign someone, just from the YouTube videos he doesn't look a lot different or better than what we have. Suppose he can't be worse than having Sammy as back up.

Yeah, I thought the same. However the Swedish fans seems to say Mohamed is the better all round player of the two. Can't see if from those videos though.

Wondering if this is like when somebody shows interest in one of our unwanted players – Murphy/Sammy – and we go onto other clubs forums and try and convince folk they're world beaters!

Bhoys in battle for £2m rated Bangura despite player denying reports of move

    By Mark Wilson

Last updated at 8:40 AM on 29th August 2011

Celtic are locked in a three-way fight for the signature of AIK Stockholm striker Mohamed Bangura.
Sportsmail revealed on Saturday that the 22-year-old had emerged as a leading target for the Parkhead club.

[IMG] Wanted man: Neil Lennon hopes to tie up a deal for Mohamed Bangura this week

Celtic, who are braced for fresh offers for South Korean midfielder Ki Sung Yueng, sent scouting chief John Park to see Bangura in AIK’s 1-0 win over Syrianska in Stockholm on Sunday.
However, a delegation from Blackburn Rovers were also at the game, while a cash-rich outfit in the Middle East are also understood to have expressed an interest.
While Celtic are still the front-runners in the chase, £2million-rated Bangura denied reports he will fly into Glasgow on Monday.

And Blackburn are now trying to lure him to Ewood Park after a miserable start to their Barclays Premier League campaign.
‘I know Celtic were here and watched me,’ said Bangura. ‘It is a good club but I do not think anything is done or near yet. Am I going to Glasgow on Monday? No, I am going with the national team of Sierra Leone.

‘Many clubs are interested, but it is up to AIK. They have said no to some other clubs’ bids in the past. But I am not stressed about the situation. If the right club comes up with the right bid, I am going to be happy.’
Boss Neil Lennon raced away from St Mirren Park immediately after Sunday’s 2-0 win over the Paisley side ‘on club business’ as Celtic step up their transfer moves before Wednesday night’s deadline — with left-back cover also being sought.

[IMG] Hopeful for signings: Neil Lennon wants Mohamed Bangura.

First-team coach Alan Thompson instead faced the media and confirmed that Bangura was ‘one they were looking at.’

Thompson also urged the Parkhead hierarchy to hang on to Ki as speculation mounted that two unnamed Russian clubs were ready to submit substantial offers. Blackburn have also been linked with the 22-year-old.
‘There has been well documented transfer interest in Ki, which is right,’ said Thompson. ‘I’d like to think Ki will stay. The manager has already said he doesn’t want the better players leaving.’

Meanwhile, Thompson insisted Celtic deserved to be reinstated to the Europa League group stages — if FC Sion are kicked out by UEFA on Monday.

The Swiss club beat Lennon’s side 3-1 on aggregate last week, but face sanctions in a dispute over whether they broke a transfer embargo by making a clutch of summer signings. UEFA president Michel Platini has already publicly criticised Sion’s actions.
Five of the players in question — including two-goal hero Pascal Feindouno — were included in the squad which faced Celtic, leaving Thompson in no doubt that an unfair advantage was gained.
He denied it would be a hollow victory if the Parkhead club were suddenly propelled into a group containing Atletico Madrid, Udinese and Rennes.
‘If Feindouno doesn’t play (last Thursday), then we go through on away goals once you take his goals out,’ argued Thompson.

[IMG] Super Hoops: Celtic's Gary Hooper (second left) celebrates scoring his at St Mirren

‘I don’t know what will happen, but for Platini to come out and make the statements that he has tells you there are views in the higher ranks of UEFA.
‘Everyone is entitled to their view but, if we are reinstated, then we’ll be delighted.’
The success over St Mirren was Celtic’s first victory in four matches after the two legs of the Sion tie bracketed a 1-0 home defeat by St Johnstone.

Two goals in the first 12 minutes from Gary Hooper sealed the points yesterday, although Thompson wasn’t entirely happy with the central-defensive partnership of Daniel Majstorovic and Kelvin Wilson.
‘It was important to get back to winning ways after last week,’ he said. ‘The way we started the game, the tempo, was everything the manager asked for. We played with energy and power and St Mirren struggled to cope.
‘In defence, we were shaky at times. Daniel and Kelvin are just getting to know each other and we hope it is a partnership that will get better in time.’

    Broony!
Just because he played for the huns doesn't mean he would tell someone NOT to play for Celtic - probably just the opposite if he enjoyed his time in scotland - it's not the first time a former orc has recommended life in scotland to ANother, regardless of the team the player is linked with!

As for the player, I don't know the first thing about him but if Henke is recommeding the lad, then that's good enough for me!

    Bangura open to Celtic switch

Sierra Leone star admits Bhoys are a 'good club'

    Last Updated: August 29, 2011 9:55am

[IMG] Bangura: Would be interested in joining Celtic if a bid was accepted by AIK

AIK Stockholm striker Mohamed Bangura would be interested in joining Celtic if the club had a bid accepted for his services.
Celtic[IMG] are eager to land the 22-year-old, as first revealed by skysports.com last week, ahead of the transfer window closing on Wednesday.
The Bhoys are believed to have watched the in-demand Sierra Leone star in action on Sunday night in their Swedish game against Syrianska.
However, Blackburn are also interested and Belgian side Club Brugge are understood to have had a £1.8million offer rejected by the Swedes.
Bangura is staying calm over his future, stating he will only consider leaving once a bid has been accepted by AIK.
    Good club

"I know Celtic were here and watched me," he told the Daily Record. "They are a good club but I do not know what will happen.
"Many clubs are interested in me but it's up to AIK. They have said no to some bids already but I am not really stressed about the situation.
"If the right club come up with the right bid for me, I am going to be happy."
Bhoys first-team coach Alan Thompson has confirmed the club are keen on bringing Bangura to the club before the window closes.
"We want to sign one or two to make us stronger and Bangura is one of them," confirmed Thompson

You're right there. Forrest is a superb wee player and it's no his fault we don't ahve a single attacking player who can connect with a cross.

Spot on mate. Targets should have been sounded out to at least talk to in June. None of this fannying aobut waiting to see what happens with players who you know you won't get.
