I think thats what most people have found, the more you play it and get used to the maps the better it becomes.

I think Call of Duty is vastly overrated. Particularly this edition and Black Ops.

if anything black ops was underated, a great game to play online, and zombies was class.. though as ive said before i think it become fashionable amongst gamers to bash all new COD games.

Anyone still having problem with lag on PS3 mw3?? mines seems to be ok just now though i dont know if thats just because i turned theatre mode off!

I thought Black Ops was an absolute travesty of a game. Paid $100 for it and played under 10 hours.

Probably that plus the fact MW2 didn't impress me much either have helped make my mind up that I'm not going to get this.

Is Battlefield the way forward now? Never played any of them. It looks really unrealistic with the amount of helicopters flying about.

Played it for a while now.

Decent enough game but the maps are terrible.

I think treyarch gets unfair criticism, their engine may be worse and the storyline not as exciting but they always introduce alot of new things to multiplayer and have great maps, MW3 is just a giant DLC for MW2 and is horrible broken, I have tried it 4 times now at a friends place and I still dislike it, storyline was great but the multiplayer is terrible

There is only ever 3-4 heli's at any one time and the maps are huge. Actually really hard to fly and be effective so it's balanced.

If you are lone wolfing it you will die alot because attacks come from all areas.

No, no. I used to really like COD. Modern Warfare 1 & 2 were fantastic. I bought Black Ops, liked Zombies, thought the plot was just plain silly and online was actually inferior to Modern Warfare 2. Lack of fresh ideas, lag issues, games reguarly booting people out for no apparent reason (the only thing I liked was Nuketown and Zombies) They have a gold formula for cashflow and are obviously just keen to make as much money as they can without a great deal of care for true innovation (Hence a campaign mode which lasts like 6 hours at the most).

It's not like I'm saying 'Oh Call of Duty is * and no one should buy it because it's so popular and I don't conform with the croud'. But it's the best selling franchise in the world (as far as I know or at least current releases are), yet it's no where near the best quality of game on the market. People give it too much praise for what it deserves.

    Modern Warfare 10/10
World at War 6.5/10 (Hated it)
    Modern Warfare 2 9.5/10
Black Ops 7.5/10 (at the most, zombies was a good addition)
Modern Warfare 3 8/10 (give or take 0.5 either way, still undecided)

    Here's my ratings.

Modern warfare: 10/10 the benchmark and yet to be surpassed by the activision team.
World at war: 8.5 My personal fav of the current gen. It has old skool charm and imo it's the darkest of the lot. It really captured the war imo.
Modern warfare 2: 7.. In terms of gameplay it equals mw1 but it's not at all innovative so i don't rate it highly.
Black ops: 9 Broken in parts and frustrating online bugs take the shine off what is a decent game. The story although weak was fun and some of the missions where great. Zombies is always a welcomed bonus and I've spent many hours playing it. Could have been a 9 or ten had they invested as much time in the actual game as they did with the Zombies mode. (Perhaps this is a stand alone game they can do themselves -like dead island)
Modern warfare 3: Can't rate. Still waiting for it to come but I'd imagine it will fall into the mw2 rating.

My personal all time fav COD game though was COD 3 on ps2. The online was really good and players actually had alot of fun on that. Also i think i like it more than any because again it has old skool charm.. back in a day when quick scoping ect was null.

I bought COD 3 for the Wii. What a misguided decision that was! haha!

Perhaps it was the jump from console generations (providing you never had an xbox or ps2 prior to that. That factor combined with the fact it was a very good game and a significant step forward for COD and shooters in general.

I had the same thing, if not even more so (i was amazed) when I first played Halo in Virgin. I had just bought a Gamecube (loved it) but after playing Halo KNEW I had to buy an xbox for that game and that game alone. Took me 2 years as I was at school and not old enough to work! haha! Worth the wait though, believe me!

    Here's my ratings:

Modern Warfare: 9/10 The one that started it all but it wasn't perfect, innovative multiplayer for the time but single player wasn't that good, infinite enemy respawning made it feel stupid at times, killing enough just enough enemies so you can make a run to the next invisible checkpoint to start the next wave of infinite enemies is not good programming.
World at War: 8/10 By then I was sick to death of WW2 shooters having played them since Medal of Honor in 1999, single player again ruined by infinite enemy respawning. * Zombies was good. I just don't like WW2 shooters anymore.
Modern Warfare 2: 9.5/10 Stepped up the game, dynamic enemy AI replaced infinite respawning and made the single player mode 100 times better, good story and I liked the locations. Spec Ops was a good addition and I loved the multiplayer, the maps were excellent. Would have got a 10/10 if it wasn't for the stupid mistakes like over powered noob tubes and the marathon pro - lightweight pro - commando pro knifing farce.
Black Ops: 8.5/10 Rank rotten campaign with a daft story and infinite respawning returns for some stupid reason known only to Treyarch. Zombies returns which is a bonus. Some decent additions albeit small ones to the multiplayer like CoD points, wager matches, contracts, one in the chamber etc finally someone tries to innovate on the CoD formula, noob tubing is almost eliminated, quickscoping is totally eliminated, decent maps. After playing MW3 I realised how underrated Black Ops was.
Modern Warfare 3: 7/10 Started out as a decent campaign completely ruined by the fact it lasted only 4 and a half hours, Spec Ops returns which is good, survival mode is crap, it's Zombies without dedicated maps and zombies, who the * wants that? Multiplayer fails in my opinion, rubbish maps, noob tubes, grenade spamming and camping are all rife in the game again after Treyarch tried hard to eliminate them, it seems Infinity Ward like to cater for the useless players in their games. Quickscoping returns to make the game feel even more unrealistic than it already does. It took everything Black Ops tried to do right and binned it, this is the game where CoD went backwards instead of forwards.
