Same age as Jota now and 3 year older than Abada.

I still think he’s a dangerous player when fit but it just seems like he’s just never going to be capable of fulfilling a full season without at least 2/3 mid to long term injuries.

Wish the lad all the best, but would be a bigger surprise than Tony Ralston if he were to turn it around from here.

Would be very surprised if Johnston is still in the squad come the end of the window, he will surely be out on loan or sold to get game time.

  3. I'd be open to him staying for another season or at least loan him out and see how he gets on with regular game time

Really thought when he got a wee run under Rodgers and scored a few goals that he would kick on, But the boy keeps getting injuries at crucial points in his career and does him no favours.

Always back one of our own to make it even as a back up to Jota but need to wait and see what Ange has in store for him. If he does stick around the first team after summer then it must be a good sign but make or break season for him regardless

  5. He'd do well to go to MLS like Lewis Morgan tbh.

The medical teams over there will be far greater than anything he will get at any club in SPL

He's got ability but doesn't offer the things Maeda can. Then there's his injury record, then there's his form, that's never really happened. I think it's best for him to move on

Got to agree with most time to move on even on loan for this season

Oh I dunno like. The Tony Ralson turnaround has been the most remarkable I have ever seen from a Celtic player. I still remember Naymar tearing him apart when he was a teenager and I remember thinking that was curtains for him. But now he looks like the finished article, a captain in waiting in fact. If wee Mikey Johnston can pull off a turnaround like that then it would be incredible

  10. I wouldn't go that far with Ralston.

We are about to head into the CL and he could just as well been shown up defensively at that level which I suspect he might.

He has to show he can go up another level and maintain a level of consistency over more than one season before we can talk about captaincy and the likes.

There is still a lot to his game that needs improving.

There's the potential for a lot of our players to be shown up at CL level tbf. It's CL level for a reason.

It's great to be back but fans need to be realistic with expectations on players. Any success we have will be unexpected, we are massive underdogs.

  12. Oh I'm fully aware...but that's pessimism in me that even with the buzz of Ange and winning the league...I nigh on write off expectations in Europe.

I'm also fully expecting to be given the most foul group in CL proper and get scuddings from the likes of a Liverpool, Real Madrid and Inter Milan

I'm the same in fairness. Just been discussing it in the souza thread.

Just have to hope we can make an impact.

He’s probably the most I’d been excited about a youth player in a long time! Thought after watching him in the first game of the season a few years ago (maybe Livingston?) he’d be a key player by now.

Unfortunately it’s not happened, whether it’s injuries, attitude, lack of game time, I don’t know… but I feel he has to leave and get game time and be injury free if he’s to have a good career because he definitely has a lot of ability.

I think we need to know our place when it comes to the Champions League. We need to know that basically every team we could draw in the group stage are potentially better than we are.....and probably are. So all our players will be tested and could get shown up. When you think of who we have drawn before and in recent times......PSG, Barca, Bayern Munich, Man City etc. If we draw any of them again or teams of similar standard then we will likely get shown up. We've just got to accept that. Our main weapon is Celtic Park....its intimidating for the opposition to come and play at.

Its not going to be a good comparison or one that anyone will like to hear, but its similar to Hearts in the Scottish League. They're main weapon is Tynecastle. Its intimidating to go to for opposition teams. Its no a place you ever want to go when your needing 3 points. Its the same for us at Champions League level.

He'd be a regular first team player for us if it wasn't for injuries. I'm 100% sure on that..
