I like Matthews left and Lustig right. This is how I think our team will be next season with transfers etc in mind.

Didn't rate him at the start but he's really improved, I don't know if I'd rather have him or Matthews in the team.

I didn't like the look of Lustig for his first few months but he really grew on me during last season. Very much the part for European Football.

When Matthews and Lustig are both fit, Lustig is the better right back for me. Especially when it comes to Europe.

Definitely think Lustig is better than Matthews. He is a better defender and he contributes more going forward. I really like Matthews and think he punishes poorer teams more than Lustig due to his pace, but for every big game I wouldn't even consider him over Lustig.

Feel Lustig is a bit of an unsung hero in the team. He's certainly the best full back at the club.

Agree. I would say Matthews is a better wing-back though, and therefore more useful than Lustig in certain games.

I prefer Matthews. Thought he was in line for player of te year last year before his injury.

Lustig was one of our most consistent performers last year

Indeed. I feel against the weaker teams he can cause absolute mayhem. Lustig is more of a steady, consistent defender. If we play Partick Thistle at home however I'd play Matthews because you know he could tear their left back a new *.

On the other hand, away to Real Madrid you feel Lustig would have a much better chance at limiting Ronaldo.

You say that but Matthews handled Messi and co incredibly well.

You really see our team like that?

No Ledley? Brown the Only Centre Mid? Matthews at LB instead of Izaguirre?

    No chance.

That midfield would get exposed so often no matter who we were playing.

That midfield would struggle to impose itself in the SPL imo, let alone Europe.

Yep, but I was just making the point that it's slightly unfair to say Lustig is better for Eurooe an talk down Mathews' ability when he proved himself on the biggest stage against the world's best.

I love Matthews and I like Lustig, but I'd personally not like to see Matthews development stutter at the hands of someone who is of similar ability.

Mulgrew for Wilson, Izzy for Matthews, Brown on the right, Ledley in the center, Sami on the left and Commons through the middle would be much better in that formation
