I vaguely remember something about him signing a new contract at the height of his hype in 2013. There was speculation that he was definitely off in the summer of that year, but he signed a new contract as a thank you/favour to Swansea so that they got a bit more money for him (and he got a slightly better wage in what was to be his last few months there).

Obviously he never got his rumoured move to Arsenal for whatever reason, this might tie in with the Swansea not selling him and him trying to force a move story, and he never really recaptured his form of that season.

Even though he's shown his potential quality in the past, I'm not too sure about this one. If he's being brought in as an attacking midfielder, or more specifically as winger, then it might be alright, but I wouldn't be confident with him as our striker in Europe.

Well that nips it in the bud for me, we need a striker not a converted AMC. Still though, it's interesting...

Even at that, he was more of a supporting striker than an out and out striker at Swansea. I don't ever recall him playing out wide either, so just wondering where he'd fit in. Only position he'd be natural in for our system is where Johansen plays and we've got heaps of players who can cover that role already.

If the wages are decent (would go for a pay as U play) I should take the gamble. If this guy want to re-launch his career..it's the right moment.

Tbh you've got to admit, the story seems far fetched mate. A top physio will tell you that Torres is finished at the top, but not a team who would have had access to his medical records and went through it all thoroughly before spending £50 million. Who would have there own physio's/doctor's/specialists looking at him as well.

Not saying you're talking * mate... Just saying that it sounds a bit unbelievable.

It is honestly the truth. My pal from Belfast who is a massive Liverpool fan also ripped me a new one for days after I told him at the time. Truth be told the guy who told me might not have even been a physio. He did sound very well educated and was worth a right few quid though. He was also retiring and spoke about a Good 10+ athletes he had worked with during his career. It was a very interesting chat. We were also chatting for a good half hour and he knew his stuff. Nothing to gain at all from making it up.
If it is true and the was telling the truth it's a pretty mad story.

i mentioned on here a couple of weeks ago that a few people i know close to swansea say he has all the ability in the world but his attitude lets him down badly. a lot of the things ive heard make me think of similar stories you hear about mancini/balotelli

he was very much laudrup's main man, and allowed to train how and when he liked a lot of the time. but because he was doing the business for them, no one really had an issue with it. his second season was troubled a by injury and then with laudrup being sacked in the february of that season he was on borrowed time because monk wasnt going to let him get away with things.

he was given plenty of opportunity to fall in line with monk's training methods etc. but his attitude just stunk and because he wasnt performing in the opportunities he was given, he wasnt allowed to get away with it anymore. the next season he was shifted out to napoli and only played a handful of games for them, by all accounts because he took his bad attitude with him and because of injuries.

after his first season at swansea there was some serious interest from arsenal and they made enquiries. he was also called up to the spain squad. neither of these would have occurred if there wasnt a high amount of ability there. the attitude thing is a concern, but ronny may feel thats something he can turn around. the only thing about this deal i would be worried about is the fact that i dont really see him as a striker, more of a no.10 behind the striker and i dont see that as a position we need to strengthen ahead of others.

He is the type of target man forward we need to lead the line.

I'd love him here. It's a gamble if so but I thought he looked a star in that one season he had.

Potentially the class striker we'd need for Europe.

Season before last he absolutely tore the Premiership a new one, scored a barrel load and got a cap for Spain off the back of it. Everyone was sniffing around him.

Has a point to prove, has been unlucky with injuries and if we get him right he'd be an incredible signing for Celtic.

Great striker. Not the most mobile, but what a finisher. Would be ideal for us if we get into CL.

Swansea have been punting him about Europe trying to sell him or loan him out. Good chance he would have been offered to Celtic. Doesn't mean we've made an offer or are even interested.

Will see if this develops into anything, I have my doubts though.

Kind of player we go for. Either great potential or been brilliant but injuries etc stopped him playing. Take a risk, get him scoring for fun and we'll be laughing to the champions league final.
