The BBC have reported today that Michael Nicholson has been appointed on a permanent basis.

Most people suspected this would happen.

"They have been close to Ange since his arrival as football manager in the summer," he told the Stock Exchange, adding that Nicholson "is well known and highly respected across football domestically and internationally".

Personally I would have liked to seen how successful the January window was before he was appointed in a fully time capacity.

He really has to come out and prove otherwise now. It's quite bizarre he hasn't announced himself even beforehand. Is it Peter Lawell alias?

The little i seen of Dom he came across as a very likeable guy who the fans could connect with. And that was not normal for celtic.

I thought the complete opposite. Didn’t trust McKay as soon as he opened his mouth. Tbf though I don’t trust any of these fuds in charge of the club.

That's why he's been shown the door you can't be communicating with the ordinary fans and nothing is going to change with this present board .

Amusing some of the comments in here about being a yes man, puppet, Peter still calling the shots etc... lol. Not one positive although JC antos wasn't to bad.

You judge this man on his work in the coming years. Thsts how any rational thinking man does! Of course the board are going to have an input into some of his decisions, that's how it works.

Considering he has been involved in a large part of they way we have been operating, over a significant number of years, during which things have been very badly mismanaged and were allowed to regress significantly, on and off the pitch, I'm going to suggest that... no, no he is not.

Why not appoint him before the summer instead of McKay then?

I'm not against promoting from within but there's something 'off' about this. McKays appointment made sense, he had experience. Isn't Michael a solicitor by trade?

I agree there might have been a few things didn't go to plan but we just did 9IAR, quadruple treble along with many more trophies. I would take a bit of more mis-management this decade if we manage to pull in the same amount of trophies. You take the rough with the smooth in all aspects of life including business. These people are in the club to make money and put trophies on the table. They have successfully succeeded in this. Yes last season was a * of epic proportions but we were also getting it from everywhere. People need to realize this! And this isn't me siding with them, I just see it for what it is instead of always looking to point the blame when things don't go our way. Do you really think these men don't give a * about us. They are successful business men and take any sort of losses personally. It's how they got to where they got.

Aye, difficult to know what truly goes on behind the scenes or how competent he is, seems like a safe appointment with the usual nepotism..

And not one to provide the change that's needed at the club.

But, I guess like any appointment he deserves a chance, starting in Jan.

We wrote off last season in October with 1 of the floated reasons the fact that Lawwell was leaving and the new CEO should get to choose the direction of the club.

We then had the new CEO talking about the urgent need to modernise the club but bizarrely he shadowed the outgoing CEO responsible for the lack of modernisation, for a period of 3 months.

The new CEO then leaves very shortly into his stint with very little explanation and we appoint a guy with no previous CEO experience and who has been part of the underperforming board that has seen the club fall into the urgent need for modernisation stated above.

This should be sounding alarm bells for anyone that's paying attention

Last season wasn't just due to what happened last season though, it had been brewing for a few years due to downsizing and mismanagement over a number of years, normally that would also give a slow decline on the park as well, it just so happened that the stars aligned in such a way that everything that could go wrong all did in one season. But the groundwork for that to happen had already been laid, and he was a part of that. How big a part is hard to say, but I'd say probably significant, though I could be wrong.

If he turns out to be the best CEO we could hope for happy days. But, let's face it, I doubt those making the decision made sure no stone was unturned when finding the ideal candidate for the role. It has all the hallmarks of it being the usual lazy, cheap and least likely to rock the boat option being taken once again. Time will tell.
