FFS man do you ever give up? :giggle1:

The A-side in a fight = the guy who takes home the lions share of the purse split. On a fundamental level nothing more nothing less. Conor isn't coming into this fight believing he's the A-side but deciding to accept about 30% of Mayweather's prize just for the craic.

The irony in the guy that has no interest in this sham fight who's got more boxing experience than one of the fighters who's fighting like a * bear about every last detail regarding it :56:

The A side, the guy that drives the PPV buys. Conor McGregor.

This is honestly reminding me of the arguments I had with the Trump supporters in the run up to the election. Ignore how he acts or what he says because that isn't the real him! That isn't what he meant! :39::52:

McGregor is driving the ppv sales - evidence please. This statement flies in the face of the actual PPV sales both these guys have generated so far in their careers.

The Klitschko's, GSP and Pacquiao don't even touch Mayweather or McGregor though. Joshua is a freak, that's why he sells and also doesn't touch either of these guys.

If you've just stated that he's nothing like that in real life and it's probably manufactured... then how can you criticise him for it when you know it's fake? It's a business and they are both * experts. But when it comes down to it McGregor has a lot of class. It's not defending him, it's fact. I'll criticise him too. But you seem to think to be classy you have to be an angel and completely clean of any wrongdoing.

Throwing bottles at the Diaz team? Helped sell the fight, he knew what he was doing.
Almost throwing a chair and going for Alvarez? Helped sell the fight, he could easily have done it but he didn't and made it look like Dana stopped him.
His interactions with fighters like Garbrandt, Faber, Woodley, Aldo. All on camera, he knows the cameras are there, it builds hype for TUF or possible future super fights.

It doesn't mean he isn't classy. He's a master at what he does.

He has always loved expensive suits, cars, fashion, ect. It doesn't mean he isn't classy. Do you want him to cut about in Primark gear driving a Fiesta?

Watch him interact with fans, his opponents after a fight, post fight press conferences, his team. That's the real Conor McGregor and it's not like he hides it behind the money.

Nobody is perfect, he has his flaws. He has had moments where he could have handled himself better. But just like you and I, he's human.

It isn't even McGregor's sport :giggle1: It's on Showtime, at the MGM, Mayweather promotions is the main promoter behind it. Of course Mayweather is getting more money!

Doesn't mean he's a bigger draw or sell. The boxing fan pays for Mayweather, the MMA fan pays for McGregor, everyone in between who buys this fight is buying it for McGregor. I know boxing fans who won't buy this fight. Mayweather can't be that much of a draw?

and when you talk about sales you're talking about two different sports ffs! We are both older than the UFC is.

The biggest criticism I would throw his way is that he has manufactured a persona to sell fights. Does it make more money? Yes. Is it a bit of a sell-out? Yes. The fact that he's willing to act in a classless way in order to make more money is in itself classless for me.

I'm not gonna get into it in more detail because it's hugely subjective and quite honestly, completely irrelevant to me.

He's not someone who I would think of when I thought of classy fighters (in fact he's waaaay down the list) but he's also not someone who's completely without class, and I agree that overall he's more of a classy guy than Mayweather, given his record of domestic abuse. If Floyd Mayweather is the measure of class then everyone I know exudes class though.

Aye, it's definitely comparable to arguing with a Trump supporter.

We'll revisit your argument next week when the PPV sales and gate figures are known. And then we'll have a wee laugh at what your argument will be when they eclipse the Mayweather/Pac figures because I honestly don't know where you're going to go with that one.

Right I get that. You have "classy" guys like Damien Maia and Forest Griffin who just do their job which is fight and they are completely themselves. They don't do anything out of the ordinary to sell a fight. They keep it classy.

But you criticing McGregors persona and actions for selling fights is like you calling a professional wrestler classless. It's not as much of an act as them because he's still playing himself, but it's still the way he hypes and sells fights. The real McGregor, who you see more than the persona is a classy guy and that's what matters.

What figures are you talking about? Why would I compare two different sports PPV sales?

You're talking about a sport that has been around as long as Mayweather has been boxing.

Like Paul says. When this breaks records it proves that it's the McGregor effect. Mayweather couldn't have done it with anyone else on the planet, so who is the real A-side here?

I'm genuinely left scratching my head about how on earth you can both be missing the blatantly obvious here. I'll break it down as simply as possible:

They break the May-Pac PPV numbers. I don't have an issue with that and have never expressed an opinion of whether they will or they won't. Quite frankly, I couldn't care less. Let's say they do.

You now have a PPV record for the May-Mac fight. Great. What does that tell us? It tells us that May vs Mac is more attractive that May vs Pac. At best, it could suggest that McGregor is more popular that Pacquiao was when he fought Mayweather. What it absolutely does not suggest is that McGregor is a bigger draw than Mayweather. The notion that people paying to see these two guys fight, somehow suggests that one is bigger than the other, is idiotic quite frankly. You cannot use an event in which they both take part in to try and gauge their respective popularity relative to one another.

What you can do, is look at their PPV number in events when they've come up against other opponents and in that regard Mayweather sells more, by a considerable amount, more often than not.

If your line of thought is something like "May-Mac outsold May-Pac, therefore McGregor is a bigger attraction than Mayweather", then quite frankly, you're an idiot. Mayweather is the common denominator in both fights.

Mayweather couldn't have done it with anyone else on the planet? Newsflash for you mate - neither could McGregor. This is very much his red panty night in which by his own words he will quadruple his net worth. For Mayweather he may end up making marginally more (considering the sums involved) than he did vs Pacquiao. For McGregor he will make more than he's made in his entire career many, many times over.

Mayweather is the common denominator in the Mayweather/Pac and Mayweather/Berto fights. Does that logic then suggest it was Pac propping up the buys on their fight?

In pure laymans terms, Mayweather cannot fight another fighter and post the figures they will at the weekend. McGregor could fight just about anyone and more than likely will do, especially in a crossover fight.

In fact, if he achieves the unthinkable and knocks Mayweather out - he instantly becomes the greatest athlete walking the face of Earth.
For a clever guy you have a serious mental block over this and it is actually hilarious :56:

Pure BS and you know it.

McGregor has never done any PPV numbers like he will do when he fights Mayweather. Nothing even close. Mayweather has.

I genuinely can't believe how fanboy-ish you guys have become, you folk seriously won't be happy until his nuts are resting on your chin :giggle1:

Here are some facts for you:
    1. Mayweather is earning 3 times as much as McGregor is for this fight.
    2. Mayweather's fight with Pacquiao sold more than every single fight in McGregor's career.
    3. The event is billed Mayweather vs McGregor and Mayweather will walk to the ring second.
    4. This event will quadruple one guys net worth. The Conor's red panty night right there.
    5. Mayweather is supposedly taking 75/80% of the purse split.

It isn't rocket science here. I've asked multiple times for you to back up your claims with ANY sort of figures or evidence and you've failed time and time again.

Now we are left with the claim of "well, Conor could do these PPV numbers against anyone" :nonono::rofl: despite never coming close to doing these sort of numbers in his entire career, against anyone. In fact if you combine every fight in his career to date he still won't come close, and that's in a country where MMA may well be more popular than boxing.

The opening line of the first press conference between these guys?
McGregor, "Baby we did it!" :giggle1: Red panty night indeed.

I don't want to interrupt you and Paul's feud since it is very entertaining, but the epistemologist in me feels compelled to point out that you can't construct a list of 5 statements of fact and then populate that list with 3 items of conjecture (1, 4 and 5).
