mcgeady reaching the level of too comfortable?

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by timshere2stay, Aug 17, 2008.

  1. He is going to have a harder season this season with team doubling up on him

  2. I 'worked that out' on the principle that a winger is not supposed to track back and hack at every opportunity with his face tripping him for 90 minutes. The entire team was not up for it today but he did have a particularly bad game.

  3. We need someone else to lighten the load on Mcgeady. Every attack celtic players are looking for him and all the opposition has to do is double up on him and were fcked. We need another winger to balance our attacking options, maybe Caddis is ready, if not celtic have to splash some cash.

  4. We rely too much on McGeady, and other teams know it. He is only 22 (?) and we cannot expect him to carry us every week.

  5. we need to get away from this "give he ball to aiden" attiude. no one else seems to have the confidence or wants to take the responsibility to make things happen

  6. This is why Nakamura and Brown need to start delivering on a more regular basis.

  7. i liked the way that naka and brooon were floating today and when the team starts to click together we may finally see the bast of brooon, he needs to start delivering the goods

  8. Over-reliance on one player is never a good thing. Other members of the team need to stand up and be willing to create on the ball. Brown seems to be afraid to get forward and only shows quality in fits and starts. McDonald is also walking around with a face like thunder a lot of the time. There's too much of a gap in quality between those in the first team and those on the bench. We need players to be frightened and fighting for a start.

  9. I'd sign Maloney just to give us another option, 9/10 you knew the ball was coming down out left to Aiden and so did Utd as they doubled and sometimes trebled up on him.

  10. Thought, apart from a couple of his usual flash touches, Brown was poor today, clagan.

  11. i'm not saying he had a good game but its the positions he was taking up and the runs he was making that made me think maybe he's gonna finally fulfill his potential this season. he struggled last year playing as a more orthodox CM last year after playing the floating role at hibs, now he's more mobile and he can drift out wide and let naka come into the middle to mix things up.

just trying to take some positives out of a pretty bad performance today!:icon_mrgreen:

  12. Fair enough, mate. Have to keep his place in the side first - tough job.

  13. true, robson doesn't look comfortable when he plays on the right and if scotty bhoy doesn't start producing the goods i'm sure WGS will go back to the title winning robson-hartley CM

  14. 2 games in & the knives are out.....
Aiden will be back to his bril best once the rest start playin...
Roll on next MAY..& we'll 4get about this match....

  15. He has been told to track back, so thats one of your theories out the window.

Secondly his face always trips him, hense why everyone wants to slap it.

  16. I think we all need to not jump the gun yes he had a bad game but that doesnt mean hes getting complacent.

What isn't he happy about do you think?

  18. About not being able to play proper football. But there are some factors;

    1. He's under too much pressure to perform.

    2. The lack of ability in his team mates to run with the ball.

    3. Strachans tactics.

  19. Maloney would really take some pressure off him,or even put pressure on him.Whatever the situation is,whether it's McGeady becoming complacent or him being over worked I feel Maloney would help.

Get to speak to McGeady much, do you?

Some of the crap you've come out with following today's result has smacked of heat of the moment stuff.
