It's easy to say I would hand them all back though, because none of them have had the impact that Aiden is likely to have in his career, imagine if Kenny Dalglish had been born and raised in England by a Scottish family, then I think we'd all think twice about player-eligibility. The bottom line is, as long as the SFA are signing in players born out of Scotland then it's ridiculous for Scotland fans to take out their anger on the individual players selected by other countries, as the problem lies first within their own FA.

Your views have been affected by growing up watching that Scotland team, whereas McGeady was brought up supporting Ireland, as many Scottish-born Celtic fans do. Therefore he probably feels turning down Ireland would be ridiculous.

Not as many as you think. Every poll on this has shown that about 4 scottish celtic fans support Scotland for every 1 who supports Ireland. Its a myth because the one who support Ireland are in your face about it while the Scotland supporters are fairly heads down about it.

To me its very foolish to complain about being treated as blow ins to a country then to support other naitonal teams and take political positions that are anti the country you live in. Its like a self fullfillng victim complex. Ultimately its a pointless existance living for generations in a place and having no regard for it. It treats Scotland like an America style labour exchange country which is not what Scotland is about.

I love the place because I have always felt a mainstream part of it and never set myself apart as 'other' because of where a GG grandparent or two came from. I am more like guys with half Irish blood like Billy Connolly and Sean Connery have never had a problem having a huge love of their country and havent overplayed the ancestral Irish thing in their identities. I am proud of my Irish blood but its about 10% of my identity compared to Scotland.

All I know is, McGeady was one of the Ireland-supporting ones, and that will have been what affected his decision, as I'm sure many of us can understand an affection for a team watched in our childhood.

just read an article about mcgeady's appeal in the telegraph ,apparently he has real grounds for complaint.

he should have been notified of disciplinary hearing and he would have been entitled to have a team mate or his agent there to act as witness but strachan and the board held the meeting first and then announced the ban

will this make things worse or better?

His agent is a stirring *, I can tell that from hearing and reading 3 interviews with him. Aiden would be best placed getting shot of him and realising all he is doing just now is dragging his club through the * backwards.

Take the rap on the knuckles and deal with it, stop being the petulant kid you have been since the day you chapped the managers door at 15 demanding a first team game.

surely its too late for a rap on the knuckles now.apealling his suspension on a technicality can't have left many avenues back to c.p

Yeah and that even smacks of petulance as well, there's no need for him to be doing that.

If he thinks he's been unfairly treated then he should keep it internal, his agent is making this a circus.

and you can see the logic behind this * of an agents thinking.turn it into a circus and force celtic to accept the first bid that comes in for aiden in january.
celtic are forced to sell for buttons, aiden gets away and the agent gets his commision:31:

Surely even he must realise that all the attention this appeal is getting is pushing him further and further away from the club his agent claims "he is still fully committed to".

Sorry Aiden but i think imo (so i don't get accused again of claiming to be better than anyone) it's time you just took your medicine and got on with things, if you truly are committed to the club as your agent says then bite the bullet.

If this goes on much longer it is hard to see the wee man ever playing in the hoops again

I would rather see this got sorted out soon to much of a distraction to the players and its the last thing anyone at the club needs right now.

All this stuff coming out about Aidan on and off the park in the last few months really is making him seem like a prize *. Going public to appeal is the last straw for me. He is either a serious lunatic or/and he has a really idiotic agent, maybe one with a vested interest in not healing this and collecting a cut of the transfer fee. Anyway, I think there is no way back for him now unless he saw sense and did a major public apology to the press admitting he had been foolish and self centred.

We have now turned the full circle and are back to the kelly days. The board will release snippets via there usual sources to the press to attempt to drive a wedge between the support and mcgeady then sell him and replace him with a player of a fraction of the value and ability and tell us it was a good peace of business.

Except for the fact that he isnt transfer listed nor does he want to leave...

Comparing the current board to the kelly days is a silly comparison. We can see the results of their work at anytime, its a PLC.

From what i've seen in the media that is all the info Celtic have released. It has been the player's agent that has been blabbing all over the press.

Also, all former players and manager who have columns in the papers have come out and said that Aiden should just be a man and apologise. The only reason he shouldn't is if he wants to work his ticket. This could all be swept under the carpet if Aiden wanted it to be. He's playing people like you to get your sympathy, sadly enough it is working on quite a number of fans.

I think the media has done a tremendous job in turning a lot of celtic fans against mcgeady, the same media who dragged mcgeady through the gutter when he decided he wanted to play international football for ireland instead of scotland.

All we really know is that hes banned and fined by the club for a breach of conduct and the blame is being firmly aimed at mcgeady without all the facts.

We all have our opinions on the situation, but the media has made this episode a bigger witchhunt than the young guys choice of which international team he wanted to play for.

If all we have is the press' play on this then we should leave it until the fact, if they ever do, come out.

I find it * hillarious that no one has bothered to challenge these paragraphs. All it tells me is that people will form their opinions and stick to them no matter what comes up to suggest they MIGHT (and i can't stress that word any stronger) possibly be wrong. Sad
