Did McCourts mazy solo run remind anyone else on here of Maradona yesterday, or at least Lubo? And that finish, how disappointing for the wee man. From Maradona to Brattbak in one move!
Like everyone else here I've heard so much of McCourt's skills for the reserves, and I've seen snippets here and there such as a particularly astonishing goal he scored against Aberdeen reserves.
I really want the guy to succeed, but is his fitness up to speed?
Seems to me that the guy is the kind of player that no matter how fit, would seem fairly quiet for the majority of a match before lighting it up with a sublime pice of skill. That's why yesterday was so disappointing for the guy.
If he'd have tucked that one away, we'd have been talking about it for yonks.
In my humble opinion, I think McCourt WILL make it here. I think he'll be used sparingly, in particular matches, or used for 30 mins or so as a sub, to try and unlock a match. But I do believe we will see some fine skills, and one or two superb goals.
Hail Hail Paddy!

Yes i was so dissapointed he did not finish that great run!! Not dissapointed because it would have made it 3-0 but dissapointed for him!! It's like you said if he had finished that we would have all been talking about him , i think next season he will have an impact because he certainly does have some skill!!
-
i almost jizzed myself watching that run yesterday and was absolutely gutted for the man when he spurned it wide. brillant player tbh and should come on a some part on wed tbh!
-
Great run and shame for Paddy he didn't finish it off. But looks like his fitness is getting there, played a good chunk of the game in centre mid and did not look out of place, plenty of up and down. Few more mins under his belt and his confidence will grow too. !

It's hard to take that a professional footballer can not be fit for 90 minutes of SPL football. Really hope he makes it..

he was working on his fitness most of last season, but he sitll isnt fit enough? i know he is quite small (as in not bulky instead of short) but so are loads of players but their skill makes up for it. stick him in the team and through time he will learn to use what strength and fitness he has in the best way possible.

I thought watching it it was very reminiscent of someone, at the time I could not put my finger on it.
It came to me later on last night, David Ginola anyone? -

Agree that it's galling that he can't manage 90 minutes of football, though from what i've read he's put in plenty of effort to rectify this since signing for us, unfortunately injuries have hampered his progress. -

I heard paddy has some back problems which hinders his fitness, no doubt he's got the touch, bet he's kicking himself when he watches a replay of his silky skills!
-
I never heard bout the wee man having any back injuries, i know he was always fit when he waas this side of the water. He is a fantastic player and you dont make players go abscent like he did without have something special, just how special that is i hope he gets a chance to show it in the spl this year and i think with Mowbary there he probably will.
-
lol anyone know when he done this? im trying to find it in the archives on ticktalk.. i've only seen the celtic goals and tottenhams chances
-
Great run, seen him doing it on numerous occasions for the reserves and Derry City, pity he didn't finish it.
He's a player I hope makes a big impression this season. Makes you sit up in your seat when he starts those type of runs. -

He done it not long after the second half started. -
Aye he has nerve problems in his back. The nerve in his back would often make him feel like he had a torn hamstring although it wasn't torn at all. He's been working on strengthening his back muscles and telling himself that his hamstring is fine. It's now more of a mental challenge than a physical one. Once he gets up to full fitness I reckon he will be fantastic, but I don't expect much from him this year apart from a few sub appearances in a few games.

Must say hes looking like a player, and if he can keep his fitness up and stay injury free, then there is no reason why he couldnt become a regular. Very clever and gifted individual imo.
