Imagine this thread after McGeady puts in his performance against Milan at home? or Benfica at home? or Villarreal at home? or Aberdeen away?

McGeady is worth tens of millions of pounds and is widely regarded as the best player in Russia. Forrest is an exciting prospect with consistency issues....much in the same way McGeady was at a similar age actually.

We'll see where Forrest is in 4 years time, if he is worth 10 million then we are laughing. At this moment in time he isn't even close.

Technique wise mcgeadys on a different level to forrest, neither are great at crossing or passing imo, mcgeadys far better at dribbling with the ball especially at pace, forrest has a better shot though.

Forrest has the potential to be better but atm McGeady is still quite a bit ahead.

The change for Forrest will come when he realises how good he can be and that he has to take some responsibility on himself for the teams performance.

He done it at Killie and he done it tonight, we just need him to come out his shell on a more consistent basis.

It's only now in Russia McGeady is showing how undervalued he was whilst with us in my opinion.

Young James has the ability to be as good if not better and all the signs are that he can be a big big player for us so long as he doesn't let the hype get to him when so young.

Prefer Forrest. You can't have a go at his consistency without saying the exact same thing about McGeady.

Aiden is a fantastic player though, I just prefer Forrest's style. No * about. Beat your man and get a ball into the box or have a shot.

McGeady had serious attitude problems as well.

I'm a big fan of wee Jamesy, but too soon. Far too early for this talk.

forrest has goals in him which mcgeady didnt really but mcgeady could move from back to front very quickly ,only problem was he over cooked it sometmes before crossing .

At this specific moment in time then it is McGeady by a country mile.

As has been said, when McGeady was the same age as Forrest, he was doing the business in the Champions League and had gained plaudits from a footballing legend in Paulo Maldini along the way.

I can't take anything away from Forrest , he is a great young player with lots of potential but McGeady would run rings around him all day long. McGeady was stuck out on the left wing for too long with us tbh, I think he would have been better playing through the middle (in the hole)just like he did against the huns in the cup final , I also think Forrest should be playing there .
The problem playing a player like Forrest on the wing is the lack of service he gets through out the game can make him look bad (have a quiet game), then supporters start getting on to him . When he tucks into the middle he makes the whole team tick like he did tonight and against Killie.

We're comparing a bright young prospect to a guy sold for 10 million and the signs are will probably end up going for a lot more.
McGeady for me, but Forrest could be as good hopefully, it will be a few years before we find out.

They aren't even the same type of players so there isn't any comparison.

Bit of a thread killer i admit but yeah.

Ps.. To choose only one in my team.. it would be McGeady. In a year or two.. most likely would be Forrest. I guess it depends on what formation ect.

Two completely different styles. Can't compare IMO. Forrest has a bit to go yet before we start touting him to be the next £10 million man.

mcgeady was better at going by players but forrest is more direct and better striker of the ball. mcgeady's shooting was attrocious. evry shot looked like a misshit pass

in time i think forrest will surpass mcgeady's ability. not yet though.

in recent years the only good players coming through the system are wingers, or am i missing someone?

Mcgeady was being lined up for a £27m move to Zenit, I think that says it all regarding who is the best player currently but I think Forrest has the potential to be better than mcgeady.

McGeady probably. But Forrest has a far better attitude, more determination, and has the heart of a lion. The wee man has been carrying us for the last 2/3 weeks.

He is no McGeady yet but he'll get there.
