We could go back to using the full backs as our crossing outlet and play 3 strikers maeda inside left idah central and shin inside right
I'm sure wed blow teams away domestically
What do you guys think ?
Discuss Maybe well not play with 2 out and out wingers in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.

Interesting idea, but can't see it happening. Rodgers is normally likes to play with two wingers (albeit I don't think we actually have two high quality ones at the moment in the absence of Jota, no disrespect to Forrest), and if we did, it would deplete our bench even further than it already is.

Hello Peter.
BhoyFitz, Sgt Neppers*, We named the dog Indiana and 1 other person like this. -
I am a bit disappointed we haven’t even tried it. I mentioned earlier in preseason I thought our squad would actually suit the Leipzig 4-2-2-2 model. I also think it could suit a narrow 4-1-3-2 type shape with Bernardo anchoring and have McGregor connect the game one forward with Hatate and Nygren play as attacking 8’s either side of McGregor and have Tierney and Johnston provide width with a high pace frontline of Maeda and probably Yamada now.
However, to me we are pretty much just trying the same tactics we deployed last year 4-3-3, one of the full backs inverts still a single pivot and the two 8’s go wide to try create overloads, our striker comes short and wingers invert to become more like wide forwards attacking the box.
There is no way we are shaping the squad as we are by design. If there was a plan coming into this window it’s definitely went out the window. No idea exactly why but you have to assume whoever was on the A List of targets beyond Nygren we have missed out on.
Now I know most who have left the club were surplus and needed to go and that is a good thing to get them out, ideally a couple more like Palma would have been permanent sales but still they are away in plenty of time. We even seem to be pushing loans for the young team but the replacement business for first team players is a shambles.
This feels like the previous two January windows where we need to strengthen but basically seem to be giving out a message of if a deal at the right price doesn’t come up we will go with what we have, just what we have won’t cut it.
See if we continue to go how we are within a season we will likely need
1. a new goalkeeper
2. a new right back
3. A new centre back
4. A new centre midfielder or two
5. At least two new wingers
6. A new striker or two
And the above is just players to actually play if not be on the bench for sure.
We have 4 glaring gaps in our starting 11 just now playing 4-3-3, (left centre back, energy and physicality in centre midfield, two wingers) we have another 3 in our squad (back up left back, another centre back and another winger or striker).
Then we would have a nearing 40 year old keeper, a main midfielder in the last year of his deal, our main attacking player in the last year of his deal and guys like Engels and Johnston who despite Engels recent form will be viewed as high value players running down their contracts and in a situation of last chance to get a good fee for them.MagicBallBhoy, Ryanm1984 and constant like this. -

About 18 months in to Rodgers 1st spell he replaced Sinclair with McGregor wide left. We still lined up 4231 but when in possession Tierney pushed high and McGregor moved inward to give us 2 10s with McGregor and Rogic and it became a 3241 with Tierney providing width on left and either Forrest or Roberts on the right.
It was some of the best stuff we played under him.
I always remember the 1st time we done it it was a midweek away to Aberdeen and McInnes got interviewed pre game and was asked if he was surprised about no Sinclair and he arrogantly dismissed it and said personnel didnt matter because he knew our system and his players were prepared for it. We were 3 nil up in about half an hour and the wee * had absolutely no clue where McGregor was playing or who was to pick him up. It was beautiful.
Given links to Breum who maybe not an out and out winger there's a possibility we could go back to something like that. Although we would definitely still need a RW
