  1. Roma won't be able to afford him.

Although I'd be slightly tempted at £25m plus Ola Solbakken

  2. Reasonable starting bid

  3. Fair play if true.

Its about time we started getting values closer to what Dutch and Portuguese club get

  4. Find it hard to believe we rejected €40m as well.

If it truly was that much, fair *.

But if it was, I expect that to be the starting point again, if not more then.

Which would equate to at least £35m surely?

Crazy price for our standing, but the bare basic rate for the guy if he played elsewhere.

  5. I know it's hopeful but if only he stays for one more season, we live in hope and yes i strongly believe he should not go for less than £40 million

  6. I think we rejected €25m, if I recall correctly, but now value him at €40m.

  7. ... We haven't rejected that. Article doesn't say we did.

  8. Still can't believe he's not in that Danish squad. At least he won't get injured I guess.

  9. I'd love to believe all the uber high MoR value speculation , but I think we'll need to calm our jets on the potential fee.

We rejected £16M rising to £20M with add ons from Athletico.
Since then he had a bad dip in form but recovered really well for the run in.
He's also not in Denmark squad and plays in Scottish football, neither help in terms of maximising the fee.
If we get a firm and unconditional £20M-£25M he'll be offski, make no mistake.

And even if we got some crazy high numbers, Lawell wouldn't spend it anyway.
For that reason alone, I hope he stays.
If I thought we'd spend every penny on replacement(s) I'd sell.

  10. We won't be selling him for £20m.

    Not a chance.

  11. Assuming the "we rate him at 40m" has been pulled out of thin air, I think 25m with addons/sell-on is pretty likely, at his age and ability it's not a bad bet he gets another high value move in future, we might view that as better business than holding out for a bigger initial fee, especially with the windfall we're looking at from Frimpong right now, getting an extra 'free' cash boost a few years down the line.

  12. Fair play to the club for sticking to a high valuation. See that Danish midfield today? Utterly *. Matt O’Riley should have been in there. He’d have had a field day.

I don’t think we will get £40m but I absolutely see the club getting £30m plus.

That article said we value him at €40m not £40m so roughly £33m I think

  13. 25 to 30 million is what we’ll get, I’d be absolutely amazed if anyone entertains offering any more than 30. We may end up settling for a lower figure with a higher percentage sell on as well tbh.

  14. Celtic rejecting £25m for any player seems quite unlike the Celtic I know. If anyone bids £25m he'll be away, no question.

  17. Ideal scenario is we don't sell him and bring in some more quality to improve the squad. I don't see the point in selling a big asset when we have a fortune in the bank that the club has little intention of reinvesting

  18. We’ll accept something that’s a record breaker for us, so £25m +£1
