Latest link makes no difference at all, just another to add to the list. He'll have his pick of clubs all over Europe, Girona would probably suit him in fairness.

Fact remains though, he's our biggest asset the now so should take stupid money to let him go this window, regardless if he pushes for it or not. Which I doubt he will.

That would actually be my concern, he came to us in january so he's not afraid of a mid-season move, if the right profile of team came in with a serious bid he might push for it.

I'm not so sure personally. I think they will fall off big time over the coming months so it would be a big risk for him to take as his stock could then immediately fall again within a matter of months. They may not, who knows. But I think there's surely better options.

The second part as well is key I don't think they'll pay what we'd be looking for.

He’ll have a dozen clubs after him in the summer. He has absolutely everything going for him right now.

He’s young, he has physical stature, he’s mature, he’s professional, he’s an internationalist, he’s done it in the Champions League and he is ultimately a baller.

His trajectory is up the way and he could go and play anywhere he wants, if not this next move then the move after because his ceiling is massive.

A move this month would be a massive shock because he’s a smart guy who knows who he is and what he’s capable of.

Yeah I suppose it's a possibility. Maybe 'pushing for it' was the wrong term, maybe better saying i doubt it would * him off if we demanded a premium this month which put clubs off. He'd get on with the job as normal I think.

On a side note, this is an example of a point I made in another thread. If a team wants him this month and we tell them 40 million minimum, they'd be within their rights to hang off for a better deal in the summer.

O'Riley is too smart for that move. It's premature and he knows top top sides are interested in him. Unlikely he'll be swayed by an agent either.

Selling him midseason would set us back and probably invite the opposition to a title race. I don't doubt for a second that if the right bid comes in he'll be gone by the end of the window.

SPANISH league leaders Girona are weighing up a move for in-form Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The Denmark international recently signed a new contract tying him to the Scottish champions until 2027.

As yet, Mail Sport understands there have been no offers for the 23-year-old, who was a target for Leeds United and Southampton last summer.

However, Gerona - the City Group club taking La Liga by storm - have now taken a strong interest in O’Riley along with another Spanish club.

Locked in a title battle with arch-rivals Rangers, Celtic have no plans to sell key performers in the current window.

Celtic assistant John Kennedy has already admitted that the Hoops do have a contingency plan if — or when — the £1.5million signing from MK Dons moves on.

While the club are pragmatic over the likelihood of O’Riley moving on in the summer, it would take an offer in excess of £20m to trigger a conversation, with the player content to bide his time in Glasgow for now.

I doubt he would move this window,as it could jeopardise his place for the Euros.
However, expect to see big bids for him in the summer.

I’d love to know what John Kennedy’s contingency plan is. We have Bernardo, McGregor and Hatate as the midfield 3? So we don’t need to sign anyone?
