There’s a 0% chance we sell him for a penny less than £20m and we should be looking for 50% more than that

 

I'd say there's zero chance we sell him this window.

 

There’s always a chance he could go this window. He’s ambitious and wants to play higher. If someone offers £25m he’s off, board will he * it about losing out on CL money and won’t risk it until the summer.

There’s more chance he stays than goes but it can’t be ruled out obviously.

 

If we get offered 30 mill he’s offski mate, don’t you think?

 

I just feel that we’re in a position to keep our best players this window and given our struggles this season Rodgers wouldn’t be happy about losing him.

 

We should be demanding at least £30 million for our top players. If we win the league this season we will have players who will be playing at least 8 games in the new revised champions league. If our best players give a good account of themselves in that environment then why the * should other clubs expect to take our best players for under £30 million.

 

There is no way we should consider selling him this window, despite what anyone offers.
We just cannot afford to be rid of our best player so far this season.
Suspect that if there are big bids now, they will still be on the table in summer.

 

Should not be selling him at all, unless there is a MEGA offer and that sort of offer would be £40m for me. He's a 22 year old Danish International, who is nearly guaranteed to get player of the year and has performed extremely well in the CL this season. We can get £30m for him in the summer.

 

You'd like to think if it's a serious option to sell him for over 25m we would have a ready made list of replacements to spend some proper money on. Selling him for say 30m if he wants to leave and replacing him with a real statement signing that costs say 10-15m is a big difference from our usual cheap option

 

Would like to think so! But I think both you and I know that’s not how it’s works with us unfortunately. If he’s sold, we will have players in mind but it will be guys with potential that we don’t know anything about beforehand really as fans and will cost between £1-3m probably.

We aren’t signing anyone for 10-15m. These guys go to lower end EPL clubs or to one of the other big league and will pick up 50k+ a week. A lot turn out bang average too down there. The amount of CMs bought down there for a lot more than MOR and have turned out pish will be staggering.

Hopefully we can be ambitious at some point of if the right players pops up but the £10m+ transfer market it near impossible for us atm. Even though we could no doubt afford the fee currently it’s the competition we would face with teams offering a better league and more money.

Is Paulo Bernardo the natural replacement for O’Riley next season? I think he could be. Very similar players in all aspects I think. 2 G 2 A in last 3 games, now he’s getting a run. Could’ve been more too. Thought he was pretty decent in a couple of the CL games too. Can hardly tell them apart on pitch too.

 

I mentioned this a few weeks ago myself, think if he continues his current trajectory he's the perfect replacement for Matt. Obviously would be better to have both so we have quality in depth, but keeping Bernardo takes a bit of pressure off when Matt goes I think.

 

Bernardo has had a few good games but Matt's one of the best midfielders we've had at the club in the last decade.

If we got £25m for Jota we need to be looking for the same for Matt, plus add ons - he's that good. His attitude and professionalism make him even more likely to go on and succeed.

 

We got 25m for Jota because the Saudis are mental. Be very lucky to get that, more like 20 tops with all the add ons included at this stage as he had more to his game to improve on still I believe.

 

We also got 25m for Tierney and 22m for Dembele. It all depends on how much someone wants O'Riley, but I can see a big club coming in for Matt. Bigger than the usual Palaces, Brentford's and Southamptons.
