We're cash rich right now, if we're getting a massive fee for a player it's not really going to make much difference to us if it's coming in now or in six months time, big fees are usually staggered out over a few years anyway, it's rare we get everything up front like when Tierney went for example.

Ano mate, thought we had a slight chance in the summer but more hopeful than anything really. He's the one player out of everyone rumoured recently I'd do anything to bring in. If not him though it has to be someone similar if we're to replace O'Riley.

It'll have to be a record deal but I doubt he'd be replaced.

    Terribly ran.

Brendan Rodgers has no fears over Matt O'Riley being linked with a transfer to Inter Milan.

Sky Sports Italia claim that the Nerazzuri want to sign the Celtic star, but on LOAN first with an obligation to buy in the summer. Thats unlikely to get a positive response from Rodgers or the Hoops hierarchy given O'Riley is one of their top men and most sellable assets. The Parkhead boss admits interest will be inevitable when you're playing as well as O'Riley has been this season, but insists he's comfortable with the situation and isn't worrying about an imminent exit.

"I don't have any fears over any of the players," he said. "I'm delighted for Matt, he's made a fantastic step forward this season as a Celtic player and in his career. That shows the focus and mentality from training he's taking into games. He will always attract the interest of teams. But I do';t have any fear, he's a good guy who works very, very hard. When you do that, you;re always going to have interest.

Good chance he will move on in the summer and if he does hopefully for a record fee. Can't see him leaving next month though.

Whatever fraction of the money we already have that the board might be willing to part with in January is already needed for some vital additions even if MOR stays.

He'll go in the summer, and who can blame him? We're not showing enough ambition to keep players long term.

Even Henrik would have his head turned easier under this board.

He's a fantastic young player on an upward trajectory and was always going to end up leaving us for a higher standard of league, the board being * or not has little to do with it, no player of his quality and ambition has their sights set on the SPL as their end goal, we're a good sized team in an awful league, not much we can do about that unfortunately.

Larsson wouldn't be here under the current board because he'd be in a top league on 100-200k a week, it's pointless comparing players we had 20 years ago to now, money in other leagues has just inflated too much.

With an obligation to buy, it’s not that different to a structured payment deal but you can bump the price up in the obligation for basically giving them 6 months tick.

They tried this with Eddy Covid year as well, one of the reasons he was very unhappy due to us blocking a big career defining move, but well within our rights if we wouldn’t have the fee in the bank.

O’Riley is a very driven player, he has a career path in mind and he’s forged it for himself every stage of his development so far. If it’s proper serious interest, he’ll push for it. And that’ll leave us in a quandary.

Probably our best player so far this season, wid make a lot of sense to punt him in January, we can always replace him with another project/one for the future/useless diddy/ waste of a wage/ won't play for us in my lifetime/ squad filler/bench warmer.

Need to offer him a contract that will keep him here.
He looks like a future star.

He's got 3.5 years left, we'd probably have to offer him 60k a week to stay. If a big club come in he will want out too

His stock is high and we appear to be on a downward trajectory. Moving sooner than later suits both player in attracting better clubs and the business side of things for maximising profit.

    * the playing side though.

You know, if we were actually still playing well and making some progress in Europe, we might have had a chance of keeping hold of him for another season.

If we had a board that was likely to reinvest the fee in the playing squad I’d be all for selling while his stock is sky high, but we don’t, so I’m not.
