Well done all who have donated so far, we seriously are being praised by the World :icon_mrgreen: #matchthefineforpalestine

Celtic fans have raised more than £34,000 for Palestinian charities after the club was charged by Uefa over a flag display during last week's game with Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Palestinian flags were waved around Celtic Park during the Champions League match on Wednesday night. UEFA later charged the club over an "illicit banner" display. Celtic fans have now launched a "#matchthefineforpalestine" campaign to raise funds for two charities.

In a Go Fund me page, Celtic fans state: "At the Champions League match with Hapoel Beer Sheva on 17 August 2016, the Green Brigade and fans throughout Celtic Park flew the flag for Palestine.
    'Act of solidarity'

Celtic have been punished by UEFA eight times in five seasons for fan misconduct.

The club's case will be heard on 22 September.

#matchthefineforpalestine supporting Medical Aid for Palestinians!

    22 August 2016
Update: The #MatchTheFineForPalestine campaign has now passed £68,000. Thank you again to all who have contributed!
Medical Aid for Palestinians’ teams in the UK, the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon would like to send a huge ‘thank you’ for the generous support of all of those who have donated to the #matchthefineforpalestine crowdfunder launched by Celtic F.C. fans this week!

In less than 24 hours they have raised almost £30,000, half of which they have pledged to MAP, and the other half to the Lajee Centre in Bethlehem.
This initiative comes in the same week as we mark the two-year anniversary of the ceasefire which ended Israel’s devastating 51-day assault on Gaza in 2014. More than 2,000 Palestinians were killed – including 556 children – and approximately 11,000 were injured. Palestinians in Gaza are still struggling to recover from the attacks and reconstruction continues to be undermined by the ongoing nine year blockade and closure.

You can read about some of MAP’s work supporting those injured in the 2014 attacks here. The money raised by #matchthefineforpalestine will support projects like this which provide vital care for Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.
You can support the #matchthefineforpalestine fundraiser by clicking here!

It's good to see all the different names that are donating. So many Asian and European names, obviously shows the coverage it's received. Also a few Scottish names in there as well, surprisingly, given you're all a bunch of tight *. :50: :56:

It's amazing that they set out to reach £15,000 and the total is now almost £100,000. That's what you call an unqualified success. Hopefully this money really will change a few people's lives for the better.
