I loved the MoN days but there's 1 thing that * me off from his time, the inability to have a good goalkeeper. I think we would have won in Seville if we had a good keeper

Then he accidentally stumbled into one with a 19 year old Marshall, came in outstanding against Barca, against the Huns. Then he got dropped.

That’s annoyed me for years that man:56:

Aye, was going to add Marshall to the list in another thread on class goalies, but couldn't as we had him too short a time.

Same with Shay Given, can never figure out why we didn't keep them longer.

    Given was ‘too small’ apparently.

There’s a photo kicking about with the reserve keepers and two trailist keepers we had when Gordon Marshall and Kerr were first team keepers.

It was Shay Given, Mark Shchwarzer and Brad Fridel.

Celtic legend Martin O'Neill could be set for a shock return to football management.

The 72-year-old is reportedly being lined up to join an Eastern European side.

Fanatik claims that Rapid Bucharest are working to appoint O'Neill as their new manager.

It's suggested that a decision on the matter should be made by the end of next week.

The Romanian top-flight team has just two games left of the season in the division's top six split.

They sit bottom of the Championship pile on 29 points, but could potentially still climb up to fourth.

O'Neill - who became a hit in Glasgow during his five years at Celtic during the early 2000s - has been out of coaching since a brief spell at Nottingham Forest in 2019.

Before that, he enjoyed an illustrious career in the dugout with Leicester, Aston Villa, Sunderland and the Republic of Ireland national team.

Nowadays, he's most noted for appearing as a pundit on BBC or ITV when they have international football on their channels.

He also regularly appears alongside Jim White and Simon Jordan on talkSPORT.

O'Neill was at Celtic Park last May to present his former side with the Premiership trophy

We all like Martin O’Neill but he is talking utter * by claiming this is the worse rangers team he has ever seen. Is he seriously saying the rangers/Sevco team that played in the lower leagues of Scottish football and contained the likes of Beil Moshni, Nicky Clarke, Dean Sheils etc and many other absolutely horrendous footballers were worse than the current Sevco/rangers team? Come on Martin don’t be * silly and please don’t undermine the achievements of the the current Celtic team by saying the rangers/sevco team Celtic came up against this season was pretty much the worst in history, total nonsense.

He played the rest of that season and started the following one then got dropped cos his form was quite poor and his confidence was shot.

Strachan then replaced him the season after with one of best goalies I've ever seen at celtic in Boruc

Nope. Douglas came back in about halfway through the next season. Marshall played against Villareal and in the Scottish cup final. He started in most games the following season including champions league until about November.

Completely off topic just to simply gush about O'Neil. Love the man and i consider that period to best time to be a Celtic fan, or atleast in my lifetime.

Perhaps goalkeeper aside, you could trust everyone in that team to match up to absolutely anyone on their day. Used to get excited hosting the cream of Europe back in that day.

Really really hope that we get to witness such a strong team at Celtic in our lifetimes again.

I know a lot will counter argue and say that team wasn't as successful as the more recent teams but honestly, that team O'Neil built was just so full of quality.

Just wish the board would get back to spending the way they did during oneils reign - I know the landscape of football has changed dramatically since then but if we spent a similar amount to what we did then, I have no doubt we would have special nights in Europe again

Love O'Neill and love his teams. He's totally wrong on this occasion, but we all say daft things from time to time. Except me. I never do.

But seriously, he means a * of a lot to me.

You deal in lies and deception, with a hint of narcissism thrown in for good measure.

    Now begone with you!
