If it was cert we were to get him on a 2 year loan deal I'd take him. If he was our player he wouldn't be here longer than that anyway so the only thing we'd miss out on is a transfer fee

Cannot understand why anyone is against this? If he can make Celtic a better team then I'm all for it. Even if it's just for the one season it's better than none.

I think it would do wonders for our reputation if he is successful and it raises the profile to other upcoming talent that we are a club they can thrive at.

That's exactly the other part of my thinking.
Flip side would be if he flops, we don't lose anything and just bench the guy.

Would be a shame not to get the transfer from him, but sometimes that isn't the only thing that matters. We never sold Larsson because he was worth more to the team than any transfer value. Now I am not comparing him at all to the great man, but his service could provide more than enough to compensate for the lose of a transfer fee.

But aye, if we could get it done on a two year deal.

CELTIC have reportedly won the race to sign Martin Ødegaard on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.

Italian sports website TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting that the Hoops have beaten off competition from Getafe, Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano and Malaga to land the Norwegian starlet on loan for the 2015/16 season.

Should the deal be confirmed, it will see the 16-year-old link up with former manager and mentor Ronny Deila, who gave a 15-year-old Ødegaard his debut at Stromsgodset.

Deila, who made a last-ditch attempt to sign the Norwegian international before he joined Real Madrid, was ‘instrumental’ in Ødegaard’s development, according to the player himself.

Already a crowded area for competition. Don't see the need for him.

Will he walk into the team? Unless we are weak in a position I don't see the point in stunting other players development for a player that will leave at the end of the season.

If he is truly outstanding then it's a different scenario.

Truly outstanding loan signing if Celtic do get him. I think he'll be an impact player but judging by his youtube videos he has IMMENSE talent and confidence...he'd rip defences to shreds up here. This will be definitely one of the "he once played for Celtic" type of signings...he'll go very far.

Really excited by this loan signing think he will tear our league apart, Ronny is a father figure to him so he will get the best out of him

He is a player that has quality. He is highly tipped to become world class as well. Still though it is the player and his club that will benefit out of this the most. There isnt any long term benefit in this for us at all. Let them develop him themselves.

    benefits to Celtic:
PR benefits are HUGE. If Real can loan there superstar prodigy to Celtic, other clubs may follow suit for their players development.

I'd rather we signed a left back. Like people have said before I don't see where he fits in
