    It's one thing taking a young player on loan from the likes of Leicester City, Sunderland or Swansea City, it's quite another taking them on loan from the like of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City. These are the best young players in the world. Denayer had never played a competitive game of professional football before he signed for us and he's comfortably better than the kind of defender we can reasonably hope to attract to the the club consistently (van Dijk being something of an anomaly).

    I'm torn.

    I'd love to see him here because of his apparent ability. But who's place would he take? I wouldn't like to see GMS or Armstrong losing out.

    This is no doubt another story made up by the papers so they can print another 'exclusive' when he apparently knocks us back, like about 50 other players this summer already.

    I would if Odegaard offers more to the team and makes us a better side ( not saying he would , but there is too much sentiment among fans on here - lets just put the best players we can on the park ).

    If there was a chance of us getting him and we didn't pursue it, it would be ridiculously stupid.

    If any Celtic youth player ever needed an example of where they should be at the age of 16 (getting a move to Madrid and playing for your country) it is Odegaard.

    Denayer was only a loan as well but I was happy enough with that because we didn't have any other centre halves trying to cement their place or just simply good enough. Whereas, in Odegaard's position we have one of the brightest young Scottish talents in Armstrong.

    Everyone will still get their fair share of gametime though even if he was to come in. Armstrong could easily play alot of games at CM this season, IMO.

    If we are going to be playing across 4 competitions and RD has his squad of 22/23 players, then everyone will have a part to play. I think he wants to bring in a bit more rotation.

    Doubt we'd get him. They want to develop and nurture his talents - you won't get that against hatchet jobs from Motherwell and Kilmarnock. The Spanish league suits him.

    He is only 16 though, he'd be more capable of playing for us in the SPL than in the Spanish League i'd guess, especially as he doesnt seem to have done that well in the Spanish 2nd tier with the B team.

    He'd be better getting a full season in a League suited to his current level, than to be bit part at a team at a higher level.
