This is the thing, I’m not saying he’s not a good keeper. His own fans are saying his strengths are shot stopping and his weaknesses is playing a high line, ball at his feet sweeper keeper role.

So it’s concerning that we need to get it right.

I would rather we went for someone younger with the attributes that we need that suited our style of play.

Iv seen very little of him so I honestly don't know but there's an article from when he 1st signed on loan where he specifically talks about Benitez wanting him to play "libero" role and same article praises his ability with ball at his feet.

I dunno if I'm allowed to post links or not but for anyone interested if you Google "Dubravka sweeper keeper" it comes up.

I would rather that too mate but not sure if we'd be priced out of the perfect up incoming keeper.

Someone young could need bit of time to get their head round the size of the job and pressure at a club like ours so wouldnt be against him coming in with someone young and promising to give them time to bed in with the aim of taking over. I'm not saying I'm all for Dubravka but wouldn't be against it as the main aim for a keeper is saving shots and he's good at that.

Joe Hart was never the best at playing a sweeper role was the main reason Pep never wanted him wasn't always the best at it with us either but he done more than the job needed for us over 3 seasons.

Tbf a keeper is doing a good job if they're barely kicking the ball.

So we get panicking that we haven't signed a keeper... looks like we may sign one and we moan he's not young? Sign a young keeper we get moaning about another project? He may only last 2/3 years... so will a young keeper as we sell after 2. Makes zero difference.

Remember we've to sign 2 keepers this window. Get one guy we know exactly how he'll perform. Totally reliable. Then we can risk it all on another poppadom wrists.

What I mean was someone 28/29 even 30 that will be here 5 years plus.

Hart might not have been the best at Sweeper role but he was still decent with his feet and still fast at getting back to his line.

There was a vital clip of him running back to goal and how fast it was back in the day.

just want us to get this position right for years to come

That might be the case with the article but he was never used as that, and that’s his own fans saying that. Saying he was great at shot stopping and when they were * still and having to defend to the last man.

when that’s changed he’s been struggling with that playing style of high line sweeper keeper role.

Thing is, I’m not saying he’s not a good keeper is he the right one moving forward for the way we play? At the moment I have my concerns due to what his fans are saying.

I was hoping we had a 28-30 year old experience keeper in mind to suite our playing style cause we’ve had nearly 6 months to sort since Hart was leaving but I guess the powers at be haven’t done that.

He's under contract till 2025. Any idea how much money Newcaste would want for him?

think they will be looking for 1-1.5million due to age but I think it’s more about reducing the wages at Newcastle

Aye, I'm with you. Much rather we just brought in one who ticks all the boxes and is also gonna be more than just a stop gap for a year or 2.

Tbf we've needed a left back for at least 18 months and we've not bothered our * with that so 6 months for a goalie is nothing in comparison.

This is my concern, crying out for a left back. Need to get these positions we need sorted this summer or again we will be in for another season dog fight which we don’t need to do.

Newcastle is reportedly willing to let him leave without compensation even though he's under contract till 2025. Not that it matters anymore. Just saying.

    Goalkeeper was 100% biggest priority.

after that we could argue about 3/4 positions probably. LB, CB, Wingers and Striker. Most go for LB because it’s reflex by this point but we need the others just as much. Kyogo’s our only striker just now as well.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is a summer target for Celtic, according to local reports.

The 36-year-old, who has 52 caps for Slovakia, was a name linked with the club last season, as they searched for a replacement for outgoing goalkeeper Joe Hart, who spent three years with the Glasgow side.

Now, The Chronical have reported that Dubravka has been “gaining interest” from Celtic, despite signing up first-choice goalkeeper Kasper Schemeichel up for another season.

Schmeichel, who is currently out with a shoulder injury, has played 46 times in all competitions this season, with fellow summer signing Viljami Sinisalo appearing three times in his absence.

The Denmark legend has been ruled out for "five to six weeks", according to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, giving Sinisalo a chance to impress in between the sticks, following his move from Aston Villa last summer.

Even if we plan to loan Sinisalo out next year, doesn't really make much sense, unless Schmeichel is injured longer than was expect.
